Stopping at the bookstore for a "quick look"...

...is damn dangerous! A few weeks ago me and the wife took the kids out to Chicago for a game at Wrigley and a little bit of sightseeing. On the way back (east), we planned on stopping at the bookstore to see what was new (we'd not been out since ND lost that multi-OT game against Pitt). Well, hell. Walked out there nearly $400 lighter (or heavier in terms of credit card balance). Damn dangerous I tell ya!

Yeah - went to the BC game last year with it raining and near 40 degree temp - stopped in the bookstore b/c I wanted a stocking hat for the game for the soon-to-be missus and me; left $200 poorer... what is it about the bookstore anyways?

Sounds like my last trip to Hammes. I think it was 1999. I went to "kill some time" pre-game. I bought my ex-wife a fleece, zippered sweatshirt thingy in appreciation for her securing me a ticket to the game [she had business connections with the Alumni Association], a zippered, pocketed hoody for my son [then a high school freshman] and a windbreaker and cap for myself. Sticker shock set in when the charge came through and I really looked at it rather than simply signing a slip in an adrenaline daze at the time of purchase!

I can back this thread up also. Went to the coaches clinic this spring and dropped $394.13. I remember that number because the wife showed me the credit card receipt and said, "I thought this trip was on the high school?" Well everything else was...!?

Hehe....I see I'm not alone! I figgered, what the hell. Wife and 2 kids along, I knew I'd be dropping some scratch.

I made my older son pay for half his stuff (he got a t-shirt and one of those real nice Therma Base jackets), so I did get $80 back

hard to go in there and NOT spend a ton, i heard from a reliable source that on any given football weekend the bookstore makes nearly 1 million, i kid u not. During the 05 and 06 seasons it was closer to 2 million.
