I'll be watching him live in a couple of weeks and will keep the board posted. He looks like a different kid with the 30 pounds he put on in training. He will be a beast. He is a pretty darn good O-lineman as his mobility is quite good. He will be much quicker off the corner on D as well. He has been working on his quickness as well.
Very glad he is Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will be very interesting to see where he ends up playing at ND. We are still looking at DE & OL offers out there and Tony looks versatile. Well see how the rest of this class shapes up and how it will affect his positioning.

Yeah BG. Last year he was at about 240 and not as strong as he needed to be downstairs. That 30 is not in a ring around his gut. He was actually skinny last year. Goodman, Eifert, and Wright all work out at the same facility here in town. It is a top notch training program that blends strength training with explosion, quickness, and agility.
Word is that Eifert will be good to go as well. It was music to my ears to hear BK say everybody is 100%. Tyler is really good, and will open some eyes at ND. I wasn't able to get a weight on him, but I know about 6 weeks ago he was back up to 247 after losing a bunch from surgery.
Word from Dwenger is that Springmann has indeed improved his speed and quicks.
I actually spoke to Goodman when I was there. Going through an unreal workout. These guys are fired up beyond belief!
Poor Purdue!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on Tony. He did not play this weeks opener due to getting his bell rung earlier this week. He will play next week.
Listed at 6'7" and 268. He is much bigger.

It sounds like he will grow into an OT. DEs that tall aren't the norm.

Hey FWIRISH, I just moved to Fort Wayne for medical school. Any suggestions for good places to watch games?

Bishop Dwenger.

I'm from Fort Wayne also....

Dwenger has the best team overall, plus they have Tony Springman and Remound Wright.
Dwenger is also the school Goodman and Eifert went to. They generally have the best talent in FW.

I am also from Fort Wayne and let's not forget Dwenger's sister school across town...Bishop Luers. We may not have talent as good as the Saints this year, but we are the defending state champs in AA and just beat a ranked 5A school to open the season. The Dwenger-Luers matchup at the end of the season should be a gem this year.

Yep. Just follow the Luers and Dwenger games. I am a Bishop Luers Grad, and now my son goes to Dwenger. Luers, a AA school not only Beat 5A Snider last night, they beat the shit out of them. It was like 34-0 when Luers subbed out.

Long time reader, 1st time poster, but had to ask on this subject. What is up with Snider this year? Are they simply missing Isaacs? I didn't expect Luers to roll like that last night. I was at the CC/Warsaw game and couldn't believe when I heard the Luers score.

Thank you, good sir. I'm a huge follower of Indiana HS football and also an administrator on an extremely successful website devoted to INHSFB, so I have a dual interest in Springmann, as he is both an Irish commit and a stud football player in the state of Indiana.

SPringmann Concussion

SPringmann Concussion

Irish recruit misses season opener | The Journal Gazette | Fort Wayne, IN

Tony Krausz | The Journal Gazette

8/21

...

Springmann, who is projected as a defense end for the Irish, suffered a concussion Tuesday at practice.
Springmann told The Journal Gazette High school sports editor Greg Jones that he was feeling dizzy and had lots of headaches after the concussion.
But the 6-foot-6, 257-pounder said the symptoms have nearly disappeared, and he should be able to practice again in about a week.

...

Has he lost weight or hasn't The Journal Gazette been reading IE? FWIrish reported his weigh-in at 268 and elsewhere Springman's been reported up to 271.

Don't know BGIF. I can tell you he looked much bigger than last year and he was just in shorts and jersey. 257 was a long time ago.

I see we have some big Indiana HS fans here. Let me ask you about Indianapolis Lawrence North. How good are they?

Our big rival, Louisville Trinity, crushed them over the weekend. I'm just wondering how worried I should be when we played Trinity.

Lawrence North is a middling to lower tier program in 5A (biggest class in Indiana). They play in the best conference in the state in the MIC, which boasts top teams like Warren Central, Carmel, Center Grove, and Ben Davis.

They've been alright in the past and do have some good talent, but as a team I wouldn't expect them to go anymore than 2-8 this year. IMO, the game says more about how bad LN is than how good Trinity is.

LN runs a 3-5, has a few athletes. On film, they weren't really sound fundamentally.

He (Springmann) sat out again Friday night with symptoms from a concussion. He is slated to start Dwenger's game Friday night vs. Fort Wayne Snider.
