History suggests Notre Dame Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly will have Dome shining again - ESPN

Kelly took Division II Grand Valley State to the playoffs in his first year as a head coach and ended up winning two national titles. At Central Michigan, he guided a program that had won 12 total games in the four seasons before his arrival to a winning record in Year 2, followed by a 9-4, MAC championship season in Year 3. And at Cincinnati, he led the Bearcats to a 10-win campaign his first season before winning back-to-back Big East titles.

"He gets the most out of his players and makes you believe you can reach your goals and your potential right away," said Ben Mauk, Kelly's first starting quarterback at Cincinnati. "He really knows how to sway people's votes and get them to believe in certain things."

I like that article about the running game. Im excited about the offense as a whole but I really wanna see what Cierre Wood can do. I know he's sitting low in the RB depth chart but he should handle KO and get some reps in the backfield. This offense should be very exciting, and very proficient.

Liked the articles. Don't understand how they say Allen isn't the "swiftest" though. Didn't he run a 4.38 at the Army All-American combine?

I've been saying this since the spring game and i think ESPN finally caught on, but i really think Cierre Wood is the present and the future of Irish RBs, and this will be his breakout year

Cierre Wood will explode this year.

ESPN has always "caught on."

Seriously, they've always covered Notre Dame like crazy.

oh i know they like ND, its just nice to see Wood get some credit. only question is, if he becomes a star player what kind of shirts will come out. My personal favorite is "Got Wood?" hehehe sorry just had to slip that in at some point this summer

Last I had seen the RB depth chart looked like this:
1. Armando Allen
2. Robert Hughes
3. Jonas Gray
4. Cierre Wood
I expect that to change before the seasons end. I have tons of respect for Robert Hughes but idk if I see him holding down that number 2 slot all year will the talent behind him. I do not think this will be Cierre's breakout year because he'll be in the backseat for most of the year but next year's depth chart looks exciting.
1. Cierre Wood as our featured back
2. Jonas Gray "the wildcard!" tough yards
3. Justice Hayes great hands out of the backfield

If Wood has a good year I wouldn't consider that a breakout year. When I think of a breakout year I think of some guy who's played, but hasn't been very good or has just been solid then has at least a good year. If that makes any sense

I think Wood and Hayes are just PERFECT for this offense... I also agree Wood sits low on the depth chart this year but he'll get his touches without question...

Honestly from what I have read and seen of Justice... I am definately excited that we are getting D front seven guys this recruiting round (Major issue for ND during our past 15 average years) but I am most exicted about Hayes... Ricky Watters part two is the way I see his potential.
