New NBC announcers wanted.

New NBC announcers wanted.

So, with Pat Haden going back to clean up the mess at U$C, there is one down & one to go. Hammond-eggs is in way over his head. Ever notice how he always parroted whatever Haden said? There is a reason that the Big Giant Head isn't part of any other football broadcast team.

Now is the time with a new head coach to have a new beginning in the booth as well. Any of the following folks would improve the Saturday home game broadcast by an order of magnitude:

- Tony Roberts
- Don Criqui
- Mike Golic
- Bob Golic (the "G & G" show)
- Joe Theismann
- Steve Beuerlein
- Aaron Taylor
- Jerome Bettis
- Lou Holtz
- Reggie Brooks (alumni relations AND broadcasting... sweet)
- The Rocket (for on-the-field duty... he could run all over the field and do more interviews in half the time)

If there is an online petition anywhere to the Chairman of NBC Sports Dick Ebersol (who I believe is an honorary alumni)... please post it here.

New NBC announcers wanted.

There are a couple of thread on this topic already. Your post has been merged into one of them with a lot of discussion.

I'm not aware of a petition to NBC. Regardless, you better start one with ND. Since ND and NBC put the TV contract together neither ND nor NBC has wanted "ND" announcers.

I say Andre Ware.. He covered ND in there pervious bowl game. He's an up and coming annoucer who has no ties to ND. He's the 1989 Heisman Trophy winner and O'Brien winner, so he knows the game really well. He's all around fan of college football..

Saw Andre Ware at the movies last week! He saw "Salt."

That is all.

I know I have said this before and I have not read all the posts in this thread, but even if you have "impartial" or even "anti-ND" guys in the booth (Haden was anti-ND, I don't care what anyone says) I think it would be cool to have at least one homer on the telecast. For me, that would be Rocket on the sidelines. At least have a former player on the sidelines.

Someone earlier said OJ as a joke, but I was watching some old games from the 80's and he was really good on the sidelines. A former player is great from field level. I do not like when they have the token female on the sidelines. I don't care how hot she may be. Sidelines should be the domain of a player.

Rocket would bring such entertainment value to the broadcast - especially in tight or emotional games. He has such an energy. His interviews in places like Aaron Taylor's blog a few years ago are priceless. He has passion and he has the knowledge. Plus, he is really good on camera.

Furthermore, if you have the impartial or anti-ND guys in the booth, the banter between the ND homer and the anti-ND commentator would be awesome. No more of the stupid Haden-esque anecdotes about why a player has a certain pregame meal or how he chose his major. **yawn**

As long as they hire someone who doesn't make me want to stick a power drill in my ears, I will be happy.

This is a MUST SEE video response to the token female thingy Boss. Check it out at 2:25 of the video. I can't believe the guy said that to her, but it was still worth a KAZAAM!! and a chuckle.

Just what we need to listen to.....Chris Collensworth. May as well get the other ND hater Mark May. Just my two cents.

I really think if ESPN would allow it, that Mike Golic would be the best. He is a tremendous tv/radio personality, is a former IRISH/NFL player, and knows his stuff.
That would be best case scenario.

Why doesnt anyone like Davie as an announcer?

Why doesnt anyone like Davie as an announcer?

I might get ripped but I don't mind it because im intellectually curious as to why Davie is not a popular announcer amongst the irishenvy nation. I have collected from all of the games that he has announced Notre Dame in recent memory he has said NOTHING but great things about ND, Weis, and their program. I wouldn't mind having him as our weekly announcer. If anything he blows the other ESPN announcers out of the water. I can't get that guy who did the ND/Mich game last year's voice out of my head going FORCIER!!!!! FORCIER!!!!!!!!

please share your thoughts..

I will stick with my original Theismann..

For his copilot in the booth, I say either Chuck Norris or the DosXX man (the most interesting man in the world). Sharks have a week dedicated to each of these men ya know...

Yeah but they are legit responses. Coach Davie has a rather sleepy drawl and cliche nature about his announcing. Coach Holtz has that ESSSStttthhh slurpy thing going on that would drive a mofo crazy by minute one of the telecast.

That was funny, but the best part of the video was :17 seconds in when they showed Davies' name as "Boob Davie". I don't know if the video was doctored or what, but it was hilarious! Thanks for that video my friend.

Davie adds absolutely nothing to a broadcast. His lack of insight is astounding. Oh, and Bob, lose the southern accent-You're from Pennsylvania for God's sake.

I nominate Joe Willie Namath. Best part of it would be he'd never be in the booth to bore ND Nation. He'd be down on the field chasing Alex Flanigan, "struggling to kiss her."

I'm just tired of having to watch the games with the sound muted 90% of the time.

Oh, and if anyone from NBC is reading these boards, if I have to mute the sound because of clueless boobs in the booth, then I'm also fast forwarding through your commercials.

He's not as bad as Matt Millen.

Roadkill isn't as bad as Matt Millen.

I like Big Dummy (aka Bob Davie) better as an announcer than a coach. We could do worse with the status quo.

Getting rid of Hammond-eggs would be addition by subtraction.

If he wasn't a (failed) ex-Irish coach, the majority of the people who don't like him, wouldn't mind him.

I think he does a pretty good job. He's certainly not the best, but he's really insightful, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
