there might be a similar thread like this, so if there is i am sorry but i thought it might be cool to hear what everyone is doing before the game this saturday.

I am going to wake up turn on college gameday, listen to the chuckleheads til 12, get my #10 jersey or lucky ND tshirt or one of my newer ND tshirts on and head up to paddymac's irish pub where they hold a tailgate for fellow irish fans, i think this week is kegs and eggs!

and just before kickoff i order two Guinnesses for my father and I and take a healthy pregame gulp for good luck. after that it will just be a mess of food and beer and good times for the rest of the game. can't wait.

Last year I would get totally smashed before the game then fall asleep by half time. Made life a lot easier...this year I am hoping to get drunk after the game in celebration.

I slip on the light green, blue, and yellow argyle socks.
Wore them every game during undergrad, and every game since!

I get up around 5:00 am. Start my Chili, prepare the ribs (or whatever meat I have), prepare to make Wings and cut up the healty snacks. Depending on if I am on call for work or not, I usually have a few beers before heading out to tailgate.

I have a few friends that don't Drink so I typically have one of them drive me to the campus. Once there, I partake in corn hole and many pregame celebrations.

About 2 hours before kick off, I head back home to finish cooking the chili and ribs and start cooking / preparing all the other food I may have for the game.

Once the game starts the food should be ready and it's time to watch the Irish with my friends and family.

I love this time of year and can't wait for this Saturday.

Cornhole (or Corn Toss) is similar to playing horseshoe. You have two boards spaced 27' apart (? not sure on that one) and there's a hole in each board. There are a total of 8 square bean bags. 4 for each team. You need 2 teams with 2 players on each to play. Each team has one player on one end and one on the other. The two players on the same side start by tossing each team bag at the boards trying to land on the board or get the bags in the hole.

Basically you score points by landing on the board or getting the bags in the hole. The first team to 21 points wins. Great game while drinking. Look it up for official rules as I can't recall what they are.

Thanks for the explanation. It IS a lot like horseshoes. I still don't get where "corn" has anything to do with it. There are bean bags, boards and holes....but no corn. Maybe they used corn cobs before there were bean bags?

Points cancel each other out. 1 point for on the board 3 for in the hole. Bags cant hit the ground first. The bags weigh 1lb each and you alternate throws between teams. In the Chicago area its known as Bean Bags, because many people fill the bags with beans.

Thanks Lags for further explanation. I'll be honest, normally I have a little to much alcohol to keep track of the scoring so my partner typically has to do that. :)

Haha no prob. I run a tourny at my family reunion every year so I know plenty of variations on the rules. We had a full 32 team tourny this year.

Man that's a huge tourny. A local radio station typically has a tourny each home game plus free food and beer. I typically stop by their tailgate and then head over to a couple of friends spot.

Our bar in Toledo "Sidelines" has this game out on the patio for anyone who wants to play.....We call it "Cornhole"
