A very optimistic article

Sure it's an optimistic article, but I really got a kick out of this "Furthering Notre Dame's quest to play only opponents who also wear gold helmets (Purdue/BC/Pitt/Western Mich/Navy/Tulsa/Army) the Golden Hurricanes will come to South Bend."

It is so funny but true. I never realized 7 of ND's opponents next year wear gold helmets.

EDIT: Come to think of it, these 7 teams also wear gold pants, or at least have the gold pant in their wardrobe.

Touche' my friend, touche'... lol

I think your blatantly honest observation is semi-unneeded though, since he admits "optimism." Time will come. Homers, like me, need articles too. Fact isn't always fun. It does allow for less let down in the end though.

I think in my heart we can go undefeated.

I think in my heart we can go undefeated.

My mind says new system, new QB,new coach and four teams Utah,Pitt, BC, and USC I think can beat us by more than touchdown. I have to say though i really impressed with Kelly and I really hope the players are too. The michigan game will be true test of how are season will go. Dick Rod's last year to do anything and while def. is lousy the have some real studs on offense . While I have some questions in alot of areas on our team , I think our secondary looked really bad last year. So i would like to see some improved play early on I know the dlines not great but they really looked bad. That being said Heart undefeated and mind thinks 9 wins. Either way I can't even put into words how excited I am for Purdue. GO IRISH
P.S
After a few beers my mind says undefeated too

The best thing about 2010 is that all of our tough games are spread out, except for Boston College and Pittsburgh in consecutive weeks. If we get some breaks against BC and Pitt, we enter a relatively easy stretch. If we can beat Utah in the home finale and catch some breaks against USC, we could be talking a title appearance.

But we never get breaks. I still say 9-3.

I agree with Shaq, 9-3 sounds great to me! Then again ive had low expectations the past 3 years. I would LOVE to see the irish back in the BCS, mainly because ive finally got the money to go see ND in the post season, 9-3 this year, 12-0 in 2011?? Gunna be a great season either way

Ouch. I disagree, at least with the stuff I write. Not that you aren't right that there are some pretty lame stuff on B/R, but there are also some good writers too.

Article Archives - Bleacher Report

Feel free to take those pieces seriously if you want! :)

I'm also writing over at One Foot Down.

One Foot Down

You guys should check that out, it's Notre Dame based and we've got a pretty good thing going over there with a couple really good writers and we're growing too.

The thing that I like about the first 3 games is that we see 3 different offenses to test our defense early.

Will we be able to stuff the run? That's the big question for me. We have a schedule loaded with run-oriented enemy offenses. If the 3-4 operates to defeat them at the line of scrimmage, then I see us as having a significantly better than .500 season, perhaps even ten wins. This is asking a lot from a "beginning" situation, but I believe that if Crist stays healthy, we're loaded on offense, and people are going to have to out-score us. Kelly once shocked me a few weeks ago when he said that he was happy with the quality of the offensive line. If that's real, what can stop us except QB problems?

I think we'll be much stronger at stopping the run versus stopping the passing game. I really like our D-line up front, good mixture of experience and skill. I'm excited and confident with some of the reserves too, like Stockton, Cwynar and Nwankwo.

Not much needs to be said about the linebackers, they should be good. And with Diaco's "no crease" defense, I think we'll see our playmakers actually getting in front of players, instead of aimlessly blitzing themselves past the play.

But with the passing defense....eh, not as confident. We have three talented corners, but they've been so beaten and bruised that I feel like it's really pushing it expecting them to become great again. And the safety position has some serious question marks.

And the other thing is, as good as our linebackers are or could be, I think they are all much better at attacking the line of scrimmage, getting tackles for loss and sacks, more so than dropping back in coverage. None of them have proven to be anything more than serviceable at best in pass coverage.

To Rocket89: I agree with all you say. My view, and I am willing to defer to wiser heads, is that if you take away what the enemy wants to found its attack upon, then it's less likely that they'll beat you with what they have left, even if defending that is not your strength. This is especially true if you yourself are a scoring machine. I'll take 42-24 wins if I can get them.

I think we could go undefeated... I also think we could lose every game...

I believe highly that 6-6 is more likely than either
