The coach of Glenbard West Chad Hetlet has preached that Jordan Walsh is the best OL he's ever coached, and Hetlet had Watt, too. And Watt was pretty damn good in high school.

If ND is looking for an interior OL who fits this "RKG" kind of bill, Walsh is that on and off the field. He is one of the three best players in the state along with Daniels and Lifka according to Tom Lemming.

I have read that this kid is supposed to be one of the best interior lineman this year and is very high on ND.

From the offers issued so far the ND staff doesn't appear to be placing an emphasis on OGs. Perhaps Walsh will change that when he visits for Jr Day.

ISD article....Just from what I can read on the main page "I like it more and more when I..."

Did he pick up his offer yet or any other news?

No offer yet. But the staff has said that they like him and that Chuck Martin will be visiting him at his school.

Jordan Walsh has not recieved an offer but has been in constant contact with the staff. He is hurt by the fact that the staff seems to be focusing on tackles but could still get an offer down the road

I personally feel in situations like this the coaches take a different approach. Treat you like a top recruit but yet hold the offer to see if your just looking to say you have a ND offer or if your for real. I personally like that approach with some recruits. I personally was friends with some recruits that at my time watched several people say, " how is this guy not offered?", yet I watched these coaches come in and talk with coach monthly.

One example would be one of my best fRiends to this day had several Big 12 schools at our games and me being quite a bit undersized yet still was successful on the field, hoped they would notice me. He had some underlying "issues", ill say, with his character. Of course as his buddy trying to look out for his best interest and also my own, would try and push him. Sad to say he did not have his heart in the game anymore and quit the team at the end of JR year. K State offered him if he would play senior year!!! That was this kids talent.

Point being these coaches saw this and thats why the held out on early offers. Now im not saying thats the case but if we draw this kid in, see he is dedicated and then when were convinced , offer, ILL LOVE IT. Great pick up I think.

Disclaimer: not saying this is the case at all just simply saying dont ever rule this scenario out.

Interesting scenario but I don't think it's relevant. ND has a limited number of scholarships this year and have dire need at OT and DE. Walsh may be a better lineman than Prestwood, Hanratty, Carrico, and Springman but not relevant as he's an OG which is not a critical need. Kind of like Clausen slipping to the Second Round of the NFL Draft. The first round teams drafted by NEED not by best player available.

Chris Rock apparently just got caught in the numbers squeeze from the reduced scholarships. ND taking another kicker reduced the number of remaining scholarships.

If there's space in the class I can see them taking Walsh in a heartbeat. I'd love to have another Irishman who likes to hit.

Could his height have anything to do with him not getting the offer yet. I mean the kid is clearly showing a lot of interest.

ND has a dozen offers out to OLs all but one is an OT and he's the same height as Walsh.

A few weeks ago in talking about OLs in general Kelly commented about interchangeability betweens guards and tackles in his offense when discussing who would play where on the new ND OLine. He also mentioned they don't have to be as tall (and have the corresponding wingspan) in his offense compared to the previous offense.

Patience. Imagine Tom Freeman turning down scholarships to walk on at ND - something he is still working for.

Notre Dame is not looking for gaurds really. That is why Walsh has not offered.

The staff does seem to like him and have interest. Walsh also has shown interest.

This looks like a player that the staff will keep in contact with just in case someone decommits.

Q&A with Jordan Walsh - Locker Room Prep Talk

But Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame haven't offered. Does that bother you?
"Not really. I was looking forward to Ohio State but I wasn't what they wanted. They already had recruited a lot of offensive linemen. I visited Notre Dame before and after the coaching change. They were a favorite of mine, one of the top schools in the country for sports and academics. I hoped they would offer me. But they didn't. It isn't up to me."

You are being recruited as a guard or center. What does it take to be an outstanding offensive lineman?
"You have to finish the block, be big and have good footwork. Strength is a big part of it, too. (Former Glenbard West star) Chris Watt had a nasty attitude on the field. That's the difference between the great ones and others, someone who is always looking for someone to hit."

Are you better than Watt, who currently is a starter at Notre Dame?
"I've always looked up to him. He was my idol, my hero, as a freshman and sophomore. I played next to him as a sophomore. It was a great learning experience. If you ask me, he is in a category of his own. His nastiness and never giving up on a block is what caught my eye."

Best of luck to Jordan. Down the road he and Hanratty will be compared. Who will be the better guard?

Hope Jordan fares better and stays healthier at Iowa than some other recent Chicago area OL.

You're stupid, man.

In other news, his coaching career has begun:
