So now that we have had a Michigan fan (and now one from USC) giving his season predictions for the Irish, let's turn the tables and predict Michigan's season.

9/4 - Connecticut
9/11 - @ Notre Dame
9/18 - Massachusetts
9/25 - Bowling Green
10/2 - @Indiana
10/9 - Michigan State
10/16 - Iowa
10/30 - @ Penn State
11/6 - Illinois
11/13 - @ Purdue
11/20 - Wisconsin
11/27 - @ Ohio State

Sure Wins - Massachusetts, BG
Likely Wins - Illinois, UConn
Toss Ups - ND, MSU, Purdue, Indiana
Likely Losses - Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa
Sure Losses - OSU

Connecticut - W - If the Huskies can force some turnovers and get a couple of breaks defensively, they could pull this off. However, I think Michigan wins this one, and a (possibly over)confident Wolverines team heads to South Bend at 1-0.

Notre Dame - L - It's away, the Irish will want revenge, and I think the Irish defense gets a couple of stops that the Michigan defense will not. Irish win.

Massachusetts - W - Are you kidding me?

Bowling Green - W - Like Connecticut, they might have a shot with some turnovers and lucky breaks. Again, they don't get them. Michigan improves to 3-1.

Indiana - L - It's at Bloomington and the Hoosiers will be out for blood after that ridiculous call last year. Michigan falls to 3-2.

Michigan State - L - Michigan State improves their streak to three in a close game. 3-3.

Iowa - L - Iowa will roll. 3-4.

Penn State - L - Heading into 100,000...at night...after a bye week? Good night, Michigan.

Illinois - W - Illinois has won the last two, but it took a massive momentum shift for them to take command of last year's contest. Michigan improves to 4-5.

Purdue - L - At Purdue, one of the season's most underrated teams. 4-6.

Wisconsin - L - Too strong of a team. 4-7.

Ohio State - L - The Buckeyes will not overlook their rival with a possible title berth hanging in the balance. Blowout loss. 4-8.

They could finish 7-5 with some breaks. For now, I'm predicting 4-8. Harsh.

Rich Rod fired, Harbaugh comes in, Robinson moves to WR and Forcier is benched. Gardner starts and is terrible, as a BCS bound Irish team rolls Michigan in their first ever night game in 2011.

I say they lose to us and get mostly shit stomped in conference... an ugly 5-6 wins is fair... and yeah, I don't see Rich making it to see next year...

which is a good thing, UM is a fine University with a great tradition, they deserve more class in their head coach... just my two cents.

Uconn - W. Will be very close.
ND - L. Exciting game eventually won by ND by more than they should.
UMass - W.
BG - W.
IU - W. Michigan is too talented. People start feeling Michigan is on the right track until...
MSU - L. Decisive loss exploiting bad defense.
Iowa - L. Close game that they should win but don't. People get frustrated.
PSU - L. Big, embarrassing loss.
Illinois - W.
Purdue - W. People start think Rich Rod might save his job.
Wis - L. Beaten badly.
OSU - L. Absolute stomping.

At 6-6, with losses to ND, MSU and OSU Rich Rod is fired and Michigan fans rejoice.

I'd say probably 4 or 5 wins.

At best, 6 or 7 wins.

A lot of rational Michigan fans I know are "hoping" for 7 wins.

I don't think it's really understood how bad the Michigan defense has been the past two seasons, and it doesn't seem like they will be improved by much, if at all, in 2010.

We're talking about a program that has lost to Illinois the past two years by a combined score of 83-33. Think about that!

Unless their offense turns into Nerbaska circa the mid-1990's....I don't think there's much hope in Ann Arbor.

I've browsed Michigan boards where fans are predicting a 10 win season.

About half of the Michigan fanbase thinks that they're going to dominate us in South Bend.

Yeah, that's clearly not very rational.

There's really no grounds at all to think that UM will beat ND and especially win 10 games.

Whether their fans want to admit it or not, we've outplayed them pretty badly the past two years and the fact is their roster is just not that scary.

Their situation seems a lot like ours heading into 2008, except much worse.

Looking back, some were expecting 10 wins that year for the Irish, but we were coming off a terrible season the year before, we were still incredibly young, and as we found out, our coaching staff was not that great.

With UM, they've had back-to-back awful seasons, not just one.

Their defense has been atrocious and is still incredibly young and lost two really great defenders.

And on offense they've got a couple athletic quarterbacks and a couple nice receivers, but no Clausen, Tate, Floyd or Rudolph.

All that adds up to about 4-6 wins for Michigan as far I'm concerned. I would be unbelievably heartbroken if we somehow changed rosters with them...not to mention coaching staffs!

Indiana, Illinois and Purdue are toss-ups. Michigan is more talented, but they've gone 1-4 against these teams the past two seasons with the only victory by a slim (and controversial) margin against Indiana.

UM won't be favored against UConn and they'll be heavy underdogs to Iowa. If Rich Rod wins those games, he might save his job. I'm not that positive he will.
