I'm going to be a junior in high school and I was looking to go to Notre Dame since I went to high school. My GPA is a 4.1, the bad part is that my class is one of the smartest to go through our school. In any other class I would be in the top 5% of the class but now I'm like top 20%. So it sucks and is really hurting my chances to get in. I wish they looked more at our interest of going there! I would be accepted in a heartbeat!!! I'm just hoping since my sister attends ND now they will consider that a legacy and hopefully it helps. I also I'm studying hard to do well on my ACT. It's been my goal and every morning I wake up to a poster of the Golden Dome to serve as a reminder to try hard to get there. If I dont get in I will be disappointed but I just have to remember that the sun will still come up and look elsewhere.

Your sister's attendance will not qualify you for legacy status but if she is doing well, that will help your case slightly if you are right on the borderline.

Your father having been a student manager won't help but his being a Notre Dame alumnus does count for something. That said, being a legacy won't make up for below the mark numbers as the legacy pool is just as competitive as the regular pool.

My class only has 45 kids which makes it really hard to be in the top 5-10% would they take this into consideration

GPA & Scores are weighted much higher than class rank - so don't worry about that

I'd talk to Ms. Maureen Clark, the Pennsylvania regional admissions counselor, about what she is looking for specifically. My guess, though, is that you'd want to be within the top 6 or 7 students or better to make your best case. In a smaller class, there is a better chance for you to set yourself apart from your classmates and I think Notre Dame wants to know you've taken every opportunity to do so. Ms. Clark's email address is Maureen.E.Clark.179@nd.edu.

If you guys dont get in Holy Cross is a great option. Thats how i got in. Starting my first semester at Notre Dame in the fall. Based off your high school grades i bet you could do one year at holy cross and transfer to Notre Dame as a Sophmore
