This one will be very, very difficult to pull in. He admitted he didn't know anything about the program, and didn't even really know where ND is. He did realize that ND was a big offer, and said he could visit in the future...

the school he attends commits academic fraud daily(the coach has all his players labeled "ld" so they can take their tests together)! alot of the recruits from this school have struggled with both academics and behavior at the next level. see tennesse robbery story etc.

he will attend a sec school so he wont have to be a student!

There was a big stink about Phil Fulmer and "LDs" some years back. Seemed that 9 of his 22 starters were "LDs". Some most of those 9 couldn't get admitted to any other SEC school. Someone at UTN had figured out a way around the NCAA requirements by getting bolo academic recruits declared "LD". Turned out the number of "LDs" on the football team were grossly disproportionate to the number of the LDs in the UTN student body and any other sports program in the school. Fulmer had a loophole and used it. I had a UTN grad explain to me with a straight facethat Phil had a soft spot for LDs, thought they should be given a chance, and sought them out in recruiting. It seemed Fulmer had an even softer spot for athletes that ran a 4.4 or could bench 500 pounds and didn't qualify academically but could be qualified if they were declared "LD".

I have a niece with LD so I have some familiarity with the situation. I know the extra hours of study and work she put in to deal with her handicap. She didn't have time in her weekly schedule to allow 20 hours a week for practice, time to scrutinize game films, and time for the weight room. Her disability dictated that her time was consumed with academic studies.

I understand the extra time true LDs get in the classroom for taking tests. What has always amazed me is how an "LD" QB can digest a thick playbook, have a played called in the huddle by the coach, walk to the line of scrimmage, assess the defensive lineup, audible twice, and hit the open receiver because he recognized the safety biting a half step on play action. At the same time his "LD" center knowing the play called, assessed the defensive front and called line signals, and mentally adjusted on the fly changing his blocking assignment with each audible called, as well as the "LD" RB who walked to the line thinking of the wheel route he was to run based on the play called in the huddle, then with the first audible prepared to run the ball on a toss sweep, and now with the second audible faked the run with play action. And the refs didn't grant them extra time. The extra time they get in the classroom.

Back to recruiting.

Cleveland Glenville is to Ohio State as the Cincinnati Catholic high schools are to Notre Dame.

Glenville's coach, Ted Ginn Sr., is a real keeper. He's basically taken all of the talent in the Cleveland ghetto and given them a modicum of direction. That direction points southwest, to Columbus, Ohio, where they go on to play for Jim Tressel. Troy Smith, Donte Whitner, Ted Ginn Jr., Bryant Browning, Jermale Hines, Ray Small, Robert Rose, Marcus Hall, Jermil Martin, and Jonathan Newsome all are from Glenville and went to Ohio State. 15 total since 2002, that's a pipeline if I've ever seen one.

Translation: this kid has zero shot of playing at Notre Dame.

On a side note, I coached at an inner-city school in Toledo last fall, Toledo Libbey, and we had a coach from Glenville on the staff. Well, at least for a week--he punched a player in the face because he wasn't sprinting. While only one anecdotal account, let me just say there aren't too many RKG's walking around in that neighborhood, and if they are they're on their way to Cleveland's Central Catholic or St. Ignatius.

Careful with that last characterization - there are plenty of good kids there who can't afford Iggy or Central Catholic and aren't offered help with tuition, but yes I agree it's an absolute pipeline.

Walker to Southern Cal

Walker to Southern Cal

2/2/11
Per Kurelic, ESPN

Offensive lineman Aundrey Walker has signed with USC, selecting the Trojans over Ohio State, Florida State and Michigan State among others.

"It's always been my dream school," Walker said. "That's where my heart was so I chose USC. The coaches showed me love. I feel they were real."
