I LOVE safeties! I think people underestimate the diversity of a good safety. Now a days though, it is so rare to find such a safety, mostly because of size...This guys has that, regardless of weight...that is easily fixed...does anyone have a link for film on the guy, im curious how athletically sound the kid is?

Nope, no film.. Yea, weight is no biggy I like the height of this kid. I wouldn't goes as far to say he's better than Wayne Lyons but it doesn't hurt to offer him just in case Wayne doesn't come..

Texas safety will camp at ND

by Pete Sampson
Lyndell Johnson used to hate lifting weights. Considering how far this 6-foot-3, 195-pound safety has come in the past year and where he's headed with nearly a dozen scholarships to his credit, that's hard to believe. Johnson is paying special interest to Notre Dame, where he'll camp in mid-June. The Irish have gone from afterthought to major player

Rangy safety likes Notre Dame
One of the top safeties on hand was Lyndell Johnson (Plano, Texas/East). The 6-4, 185-pound long-armed prospect continues to show why he is attracting attention from programs coast to coast. He eats up angles and ground quickly with a desired frame.
"I have offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, TCU, SMU, Nebraska and Baylor," said Johnson. "Also, Notre Dame is in there. Out of all of those recruiting me right now, it's kind of Notre Dame. I'm really open to everyone though."
However, a pair of Big 12 South programs had the chance to make a strong first impression.
"I've been to Texas Tech, Texas A&M and that's really it. Tech was a lot more entertaining and I liked it there a lot. I liked them both though," Johnson said.

Neither B&G nor ISD list him with an ND offer at this time.

So he's claiming to have an offer and being recruited by Notre Dame, but those other site don't list him..

I don't know that Lyndell is claiming an offer. Where did you read that he?

The quote listed below notes:
"I have offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, TCU, SMU, Nebraska and Baylor," said Johnson.

Note that he didn't list ND with those schools. ND is in another sentence:
"Also, Notre Dame is in there.

Did Johnson mean that ND is in the list of school that have offered or that ND is one of the schools he is considering? Did the reporter list the quotations in context? Did he leave something out? Did the reporter assume or lead the reader to assume?

B&G and ISD aren't as quick as Scout or Rivals to list offers. Personally I give more credence to the first two than the latter.

About a week ago there was an article mentioning Johnson wanted to camp at ND this summer. Do you go to camp if you have an offer, or to get one? He has to pay for camp out of his pocket.

Johnson could have an offer but I don't see confirmation in what I've read so far.

Per Scout, he was offered in February.

He had his spring game for his high school Friday night and he tore it up on the field, leading his team in tackles, getting a pick and scoring on a trick play on offense. Offers keep coming in for him.

He says he has no favorites and is wide open. He says a part of him wants to stay close to home, and another part of him wants to get away from home. He grew up a Longhorn fan but didn't get an offer from them and isn't into them that much anymore (although I bet an offer from them would make him a Longhorn real quick).

Reading all of his stories around the 'net, I don't see him being Irish just because of location. However, hopefully I'll be proven wrong, and the good news is that he told both Scout and ISD that he plans to visit ND from June 16th - June 18th. If we make a good impression then location won't be as big of a factor.

Don't we all, I'm still believing that while we are thin at safety I think yhe guys we have there now can really step up and play much better. Our DC I think will actuall have our Gus playing at a higher level and getting the most out of them. I have no reason to believe other than the fact that he took 9 new starters on cincinatti last year and went undefeated. All of the players had less talent than our guys and played a similar schedule. We have harder games but they beatteams we didn't last year. So ichave faith and did anyone else see that crist is having his recievers out and some of the other guys are getting too

true but once you get out of the big east you play big boy football and with tough football you need bigger faster more talented players so coaching can only get you so far and johnson would be a great improvement at safety someone who can hit and cover

Per Rivals:

On May 17, Johnson told Rivals: “Out of everyone that has offered me so far, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State are probably the two that stick out, but it’s really pretty close with everyone.”

As of now, Johnson’s only scheduled unofficial visit is Notre Dame’s upcoming June camp.

Oklahoma State is his leader now.

Among 19 offers, Oklahoma State stands out for Plano East's Lyndell Johnson | High School Sports: Top Stories | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas

"Oklahoma State," Johnson said. "I have a good relationship with Mike Gundy, the head coach, to talk about a little bit of everything. Also, Notre Dame, but I'm the kind of person that wants to stay around home."

You can fix that with a solid OV and a big win at ND Stadium. You should have seen Aldridge's face when we threw him up for pushups during his OV.

per scout he is a OSU cowboy....not too many safeties left on ND's board although Wayne Lyons narrowed his list of every university in America to 14 schools. We made the cut! Time to put the full court press on Lyons...
