Quarterback Kevin Sousa (Lake Nona, Fla./Lake Nona) picked up an offer from Middle Tennessee State Wednesday, joining Central Florida and Florida International. Texas Tech, Tulane and Florida Atlantic have verbally offered.

USF, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Michigan, Auburn, Florida and Notre Dame all have spoken with Sousa's coach and plan to evaluate the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder during the spring evaluation period.

Sousa hitting the road

JC Shurburtt

6/14
QB Kevin Sousa (Lake Nona, Fla.) plans to hit the road with his coach for several unofficial visits during the next two weeks. Sousa plans to see Northwestern, Illinois, West Virginia, Louisville, Bowling Green, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee St and Wake Forest during his trip. He also plans unofficial visits to South Florida and Florida International locally and will attend Florida's Friday Night Lights Camp in July. Sousa's goal, following the visits, is to trim his list to six schools and go from there. The 6-3, 210-pounder holds an offer from every program he is visiting in the coming weeks.

This piece was written 5 days before Starling's choice. Northwestern isn't very far away ...

I hope he likes the new coach when they're announced after the RR era is over this year.

6/29 On The Trail
The Wolverines have gained a commitment from three-star passing standout Kevin Sousa of Lake Nona (Orlando, Fla.). Sousa's other Class of 2011 offers are from Colorado State, Duke, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Illinois, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, Texas Tech, Tulane, Central Florida, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia. "I really want to learn the game first and keep developing as a quarterback," Sousa told the Orlando Sentinel. "Whenever I'm able to play, then I'll be ready to play. They told me that every QB has a shot at being the starter." Sousa (6-foot-3, 210-pounds) completed 89 of 175 attempts (50.9 percent) for 1502 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions last season as a junior. He also rushed for 989 yards and six more scores. Michigan now has seven pledges.

"They told me that every QB has a shot at being the starter."

It took quarterback Kevin Sousa (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) only one visit to Michigan to make up his mind.
"I loved everything about it, the coaches, the people there," said Sousa, who committed on the spot. "It's Michigan football. There really isn't much more to say."
The Wolverines were the final school to offer the 6-foot-4, 215-pound signal caller and beat out offers from Florida International, South Florida, West Virginia, Illinois, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee State.<!-- end free preview text --><SCRIPT type=text/javascript> function switchPostLink(newlink){ document.insidersignup.action = newlink; } </SCRIPT>
