I guess I don't understand officiating, but how do two defenders standing their ground, get called for a foul when the offensive guy jumps back into them? That's the second time I've seen that in the last few minutes.

So close, I have to give a lot of credit for the comeback...

Not even just this comeback, but the last six games. This is a come from behind season..

WVU is going to be 2 or 1 seed, and ND hung right in there the entire time.

So they should be able to do well in the NCAA Tournament, but I have been disapointed before.

Yup. On to the NCAA tourney. The timing is good, though. My local high-end wine shop is having it's annual half off (on selected vintages/wineries) sale. And I'm now free to play some rousing Bridge Saturday night.

I just hope they don't get an 8 or 9 seed. I'd be much happier with a 10 or 11. I really think with a good draw they could go far.

As long as they avoid Kansas I think they can hang with just about everyone. This field is about as open as I can remember. The Irish are hot, have a renewed sense of pride on the defensive end. However, it will not matter what their seed is if they get killed on the glass like they did tonight.

I wonder how the Gopher win and SDSU's win over NM will affect things for ND.

Sleeper team: UTEP. Heard about their success this year, and watched much of their game against UCF last night. Previously couldn't find any info on them or watch them at all until last night. Unbelievable athletes. Was surprised to hear they beat Tulsa at Tulsa a few hours later.

I guess your Gophers took it dshans. 72-67. Fun stuff.

I don't think of them as "my" Gophers, but when I moved here Kevin McHale was playing for Da U. I followed the team quietly as a "community building" thingy with neighbors. It kinda took root in the 31 years I've lived here. Rest assured, I worship no mascot other than the Leprechaun.

Besides, I'm all for either Michigan or Michigan State being taken down a peg or two, whether in basketball, football or badminton.

Side note: One of the reasons I abhor the possibility of ND joining the Big 10/11/12/16 is that I wouldn't be able to live with the ignominy of the Gophers taking out our beloved Irish. I don't think I could drink enough heart medicine to ward off the myocardial infarction that would spawn.

I know what you mean. I kind of "adapt" to the local team wherever I am.

And the team the locals seem to root for are ND and whoever the local team is (as long as the local team is doing well).

So I guess I adapt to ND wherever I go. Gotta love it.

Good game by the Irish. This is the kind of team I like to watch play. It's like Brey evolved into a decent coach. I do think they may get screwed with an 8 or 9 seed though which would suck. I am a much bigger fan of Notre Dame basketball now that they play real basketball. This was a very enjoyable run and hopefully it carries over into the tournament. I just hope Butler and Notre Dame don't meet unless it is the national championship game.
