This is only the second time ND has reached the Big East Semi's

Irish And Mountaineers Set For BIG EAST Semifinal Matchup - University of Notre Dame Official Athletics Site

Earlier this season, the Irish handed the Mountaineers a 70-68 setback at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center on Jan. 9. Notre Dame held a 45-25 advantage at the break and was able to hold off a furious West Virginia rally at the end of the game. In the contest, Notre Dame was held to just one field goal in the final 14 minutes of the game. (Similar to the 9 minute ND drought last night against PIT)

Mike Brey is 12-3 all-time versus Pittsburgh.

Luke Harangody scored 24 points to lead three Irish players in double figures in the two-point victory. Tim Abromaitis finished with 17 points and Tyrone Nash added 13. The Irish shot 75.0 percent from the field (18-24) in the first half and marked the best-ever shooting percentage in a half by a Notre Dame team under Mike Brey. Notre Dame's 86.7 percent (6-7) accuracy from three-point range also was the best ever in a half under Brey.

Notre Dame had 21 assists on 23 baskets that included 17 in the first half.

I'm really glad that ND started their winning streak when they started to slow down the offense and play defense. I love that kind of basketball, especially since it works and all.

They're going to need more from Gody or Abro to win this one. I don't think they can ride good D and the occasional 3 to win.

I can't for the life of me figure out how Nash can go his entire life holding the ball the way he does on his free throw shots and never be corrected. It just seems so awkward. Liking ND's new intensity.
