Looking for offers from ND and PSU. He went to Happy Valley for a game last Fall.

The school he plays at is known to produce some D1 guys year in and year out. The best class of late was the LeSean McCoy, Aaron Berry, Jeremy Ricker and Jason Kates class of 2006. Have given some guys to ND (Raki Nelson and Ricky Watters).

The incoming senior class this year at McDevitt is reminiscent of that 2006 class but on a more watered down level. Just a hunch but I think he'd jump at an ND offer.

Everyone says the competition isn't that great in central pa, but McDevitt plays in the highest classification. Good back, not nearly as good as McCoy, but still good. I'll watch him play and get back to you guys over the fall. Their QB is also really good but not very tall (maybe 6 foot) but was touted as a future NFL'er by an ex-NFL coach when he was a soph.

Hopefully his grades are a whole lot better than McCoy's were.

I think they are, I'll have to see if I can find any info about how he is as a student. It's difficult to top McCoy though, I've heard some horror stories about his "academic prowess" lol.

I am a McDevitt Alum and I still have connections in there. McCoy was a decent kid in HS, but he just didn't seem to care too much about actually being in school. He had his eye on the NFL when he was 15. I'll ask around about Poteat and his academics.

Per Bill Hodge's On The Trail

2/26

The past week USC, Florida and the Washington Huskies offered. I was like wow. Growing up as a kid you see big-time players like Reggie Bush and Percy Harvin. It's crazy I have offers like that.
Poteat said.

When are we going to offer him or are we just putting all our eggs in the basket for Hayes?

Fighting Irish offer ESPNU 150 Watch Lister Jameel Poteat
Running back Jameel Poteat (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) has received a scholarship offer from Notre Dame, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

Does this mean he's gotten his academics in order?

Still no offer from PSU.

He recently visited Rutgers to watch a Spring practice.

He is a decent but not great running back that is much better suited to systems other than the spread. He would be fine, but there are other RBs out there that would be much better in this offense, hence the reason that he didn't get offered earlier.

It wasn't grades related? Have other targets gone off the market to make BK and Co. just offer him now? I haven't heard of any

Other prospects don't have to "go off the marker" for the coaching staff to move on. For instance, Justice Hayes was and is a guy that the staff got pretty excited about, but lately his interest in ND seems to have waned a bit. We already know that this staff likes to cast a wider net than the previous one, and when your first choice doesn't look so interested it only makes sense to put out a couple more offers. Besides, Poteat has a 3.0 GPA, so I doubt it was a grades issue.

Actually, the new staff hadn't recruited him at their earlier jobs, so they wanted to see him live. Coach Molnar was there last week, watched him practice, and immediately offered him a verbal scholarship, per Scout.

The kid can do a ton on the field, and he apparently fits all kinds of offenses, if you go by his offer list. USC is very high on him (pro-style), Florida offered (spread), Wash offered (pro), West Virginia offered (spread). With 33 offers and counting from all kinds of schools with all kinds of different offenses, I'd say the kid can play running back in any offense you throw him in. Molnar said he liked the fact that he could do it all - run, catch the ball in the slot as well as the backfield, block, and he liked his size as well as his quick feet.

As for ND, he said he'd give us a serious look even though we joined late. He and his dad are planning a road trip to see many schools this summer, and they plan on checking out ND.

He has said that Pitt and hometown Rutgers will be in the mix until the end for him...
