Mostly just about why he picked ND. A little bit about him wanting to be 305 when he gets here. He says he is 315 now. Said he was coming no matter who the coach was because he was coming for the school. Also said Florida, FSU, and Louisville tried to poach him. Big surprise there.

Is Louis reading IrishEnvy?

Two week ago I wrote:

I liked seeing he dropped 5 pounds down to 315. I'd like to see him drop some more as Longo resculpts his body.

I don't know how many recall when Big Ced Hilliard arrived on campus. In pre-season camp that year he arrived as the big DL everyone was craving. He also had to sit down in the opening practices as he couldn't handle the weight he carried. He was out of shape.

Nix will be ready from Day 1. With the bodies we have in the middle now, I was expecting him to sit out the first year. If he's got the strength and technique to play now than I hope he sees the field early as he will have earned it now.

Rivals had some stuff on him too. Talked about how he didnt like Florida because of how Urban would just bash ND and he didnt like the negativity. Also he committed afetr his visit but didnt go public until Weis caqlled him after theStanford game to let him know that he would no longer be coaching but ND is still the place for him

That he called Louis and told him ND was still the place for him is just another good example of the type of character guy that Charlie was, though.

...Pass Right

I'm not friends with him, but I checked on my phone and he doesn't like the summer workout regimen. I bet Longo beach is intimidating

i see that! pretty strange! it will be all good though! MOOD: positive!!! lol!
when i was in high school we had to run those 350's he is talking about and they are brutal! i'm not a big fan of them for big guys because of the dimminished return factor...after the first couple there realy isnt much sprinting going on!.

if you look at his page it looks like the doubt started to creep into his head on 6-9! i think alot of incoming frosh feel the same way when they start participating in their college off season workouts regardless of whether you are attending ND or some random d3 school! keep the little man out of your head louis!!!

His page is pretty funny. Nix says he got #76 and it wasn't what he wanted. Hafis Williams and some other posters then tell him he got 67 so he says that's better. Somebody says 67 is a good number because Russell Maryland dominated as number 67 at Tha U. And Nix says who is Russell Maryland?

yea, i hear you! that said, the kid has probably never left his mom or his town for very long, and is feeling a little more pressure than he has ever had to deal with on top of the new workouts.

Hey that's ridiculous. Watch the kid's highlight films - he clearly knows how to work hard. Will he need to improve his work ethic and get better conditioned? Hell yes. Will Coach K expect a lot out of him? Of course, but he will also provide plenty of motivation, as will the leaders on the team.

Kelly knows that everyone comes from different backgrounds, and while everyone needs to be held to a higher standard, he also knows that different players have different needs. I'm sure that Louis will be given all that he needs to succeed. He will have to take responsibility, but give him a break - he is a 17-18 year old kid who just made a decision (going to ND) that took a ton of balls coming from the school and location that he comes from.

Btw, 6 350's under 65 seconds with 3 minutes in between for a guy who is 310+... definitely hard, give the guy a break. I can't stand stuff like that.

EDIT FROM NDinL.A.: The offending words from that poster have been deleted from all posts and won't be tolerated on a recruit's thread on this site. Find a different way to express your frustration with a 17 year-old kid. Thanks to those who defended him...now let's forget about the offending words and concentrate on the topic at hand. Thanks!

As a huge hater of Duke basketball, can we please refrain from calling BK, Coach K?

Haha, I actually like the other one, but per your request (and I'm sure others as well), I would be happy to simply call him Kelly lol :)

350's

350's

I was a 170 lb guy in high school and ran 350's over hurdles every monday practice w/ 5 min rest. Let me tell ya, 350's are no joke. The lactic acid build up was so painful I still remember it like it was yesterday. It's still worse than any college workout I've done. Give Nix a break, the dude is 310 lbs. He should be suffering or else he's not human. It never gets any easier, but it will toughen his mentality.

my hs team had a bunch of coaches that had coached in college and we ran them as well...pure hell!(sans hurdles) we had a kid on our team that stunk so bad of B/O all the time(even in school) and everytime i was to the point of trying not to puke he would run by me and it was all over! hahaha! then if they felt you werent sprinting hard enough they would add more on...great times, i'd do anything to do it again!

Haha yeah def good times. I didn't run them in college cuz I was a 110 high hurdles specialist, but my hs coach made us all run intermediates.

I had a hs teammate who kept conveniently missing 350 workouts for various different reasons for a couple of weeks, which made us pretty mad that we had to suffer and he didn't. The coach joked that he would get donuts and juice for the rest of the team and surprise my teammate with a 350 workout on a Friday. So friday after the work out, the coach was like "all right, time for your 350 workout. Someone go get the donuts and juice out of my car." We enjoyed donuts and juice while he ran 350's LOL. He recalled he almost puked when he caught a whiff of the donuts on the turn. Best practice ever.

Shut. up. He's updating his status on facebook, he's not making a television announcement. The MAJORITY (not you) of the people that will see that are his friends. You friended a 17 year old because he's playing football at ND, which is already creepy. If you don't want to see his updates, de-friend him. Unfortunately I didn't see your original quote so I can't be too mean to you

but this kid is an overprivileged little brat.
yes, i understand the workouts are difficult.but to whine about them on a public site, and to complain about a coach and whether he should stay based on workouts is stupid as hell.
this kid needs to change his attitude immediately.hopefully kelly will change it for him, because ND doesnt stand for that kind of crap.if he wants to act like that go play for urban liar.

IDK....Kind of sounds like our fan base bitching and moaning about potentially having to join a conference. Things aren't to their liking so they're going to bitch and moan and eventually take their ball and go home.

Ok well if you read more then just the status update, he says he is worried, scared, nervous etc. about 6 times. Gee, leaving home for the first time, going to a new environment, and being a small fish in a big pond might have me feeling all those things if I was 17-18 too. Cut the kid some slack.

Keep in mind, my comment was directed at the posters on this board...not the kid. It's a bitch leaving home for the first time. It's not for everyone.

Ok, so I dont get another infraction I wont talk about the recruit specifically.
I wasn't talking about leaving home to go to a school.I've done that, and most of you have all done that.Yes,homesickness is a normal thing, I went through it myself at college.
But that is not what I was talking about.
I was talking about someone complaining about practice.practice?.....we're talking about practice?...not a game,not a game...practice.
I believe Kelly is working harder than any other coach in the country to get these kids ready physically and mentally.Thats what those kind of workouts are for.
ND has always stood for strong-willed intelligent student-athletes.
This isn't the University of Florida where you can get away with murder and miss a practice and be ok.
I would think (and hope) that others would be worried about a recruit complaining about practice. And talking about leaving a football program over practice.Am I the only one that finds that troublesome? Or do I think too logically?

And 6 350s under a certain time with only so much rest? What the... I guess the coaches are making a statement. I hope the kid can suck it up.

EDIT

Irish4Life09, the first sentence above was a quick response to HCTI's post, but you posted before I did. I agree that complaining in public like he has done might send up a red flag, but as I said, 6 350s? Yikes.

(Does this post make any sense anymore?)
