For me, beating out Florida Atlantic to get Heggie is up there. Seriously, the Hawaii Bowl is pretty high, sad as it sounds.

That's easy...

#1) beating FSU. The hype going into that game, the hype going into the Charlie Ward offense, the way the FSU players mocked ND and its green tradition as they toured the campus that week, the way we completely dominated the game only to almost let it slip away before batting down that final pass, and just the way we played in front of the entire nation...euphoria (I DON'T want to talk about BC the next week!)

#2) Any time we beat SC, but especially 1995 when we smoked a highly ranked and undefeated Trogan team in SB. That was a nice ass-kicking right there.

Lots of other wins up there as well, including beating Tennessee when Shark and Ziggy went off, beating Pitt CW's first game, beating Michigan CW's first year, etc.

Top 2 recruiting moments: 1. Manti Te'o, and #2, Jimmaaaayyyy...

How you could even put those two in the same boat as beating Florida State is beyond me.

Not any one thing but my thoughts are Golden Tate- I have never seen a better year from a player and no way anyone has been that electric. It was more than a fine season it was spectacular and in past years with the Notre Dame mystic could have won him a Heisman. How about the hands catch against USC.

Beating FSU was amazing! And Golden was the most amazing player I have seen play for the Irish!

The 2 most blatant snubs in the last 25 yrs of college football have been Auburn not getting to play for a NC and Golden Tate not invited to NY for the heisman ceremony, what a joke and you can point directly to espn for both. Dont get me started about those entertainment specilists.

You had to bring that up didn't you. DIDN'T YOU? I set my week up for the game, fell asleep at kickoff, and woke up as they signed off to see spilled Cracker Jacks (surprise insided) on the floor.

Friggen sugar rush.

Beating Nebraska when they were ranked top 3 (back in late 90s). Landing Manti Te'o last year, and finally, almost beating USCs stacked 2005 team.

Time wise its close, but to mix it up a bit how about the Rocket winning the heisman. I know the FSU win is my #1 but this was the last ND Heisman winner. A good counterpoint to this thread would be "Worst moment of the past 20 years?" And since the FSU is my number one, the following week loss to BC would have to be my all time worst moment.

I'm going to assume that you never saw Tony Rice play, then? Or are you limiting not having seen a better year, or anyone more electric, to the last 20 years?

A recruiting victory can't compare to a win on the field, especially when we knock off a #1.

FSU win and the national championship (we were robbed of winning) that year.

I have a hard time relating current ND to 20 years ago, even though the FSU game was awesome. 4 coaches ago hardly seems recent anymore.

Yes im sorry, Tim brown won it in 87 and while Ty Detmer won the heisman in 90, I meant to say Walter Camp for the Rocket. He had an unbelievable season that year, and although Quinn did win the Maxwell in 2006, the Rocket's season that year was incredibe. Always looked to deliver any time he touched the ball, alot like Tate's.

Zibbys punt return against USC. Never have I seen a more determined fucking bad ass run in my life, and it was a game changing moment. I have never screamed so loud or have been more proud to be an ND fan!

The hiring of Weis, the firing of Weis.

This is exactly why I'm skeptical of the Brian Kelly is going to fix everything crowd. Notre Dame fans do themselves and the University no favors by gearing up for another roller coaster ride.

Anyways, I was seven for the FSU win so my highlights are a little more recent...4th quarter of MSU in 2006 was unbelievable. As was Quinn to Shark against UCLA. And Shark pointing to the ND on his jersey against USC. Those teams (2005 and 2006) revitalized the ND program. They were not exceptionally physically skilled...good, yes, but they definitely did not have the same talent levels as the other BCS teams those years. But they were exceptionally well coached (anybody remember the BYU game...Mendenhall was at a loss for words) and they played with tons of heart.

Anyways, the day we get a defense that played like the one in Ty's first year and an O like Junior/Senior Brady and Junior Jimmy will be the best day for ND football.

Beating Nebraska? when did that happen? I remember losing in OT and getting beat down in Lincoln.

I will throw out the '92 Sugar Bowl. Putting it on Florida in the second half was sweet Especially after the way that game started. I was going freaking nuts when Bettis ripped off those two long TD runs to cap it.
