I would say that it is probably 50/50 chance we land him. I think the odds are similar for Schwenke as well...maybe a little worse for him but at least we are in the fight

CB Jeremy Ioane of Honolulu visited Notre Dame this week and will announce, likely on signing day, among UW, Boise State and Notre Dame. MaxPreps says that ND leads for Ioane.

Irish lead for Ioane - MaxPreps News

8:47 a.m. EST One of the fastest rising recruits in the country resides outside the continental United States: Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) safety Jeremy Ioane.

Ioane was virtually unheard of at the start of the season, but has become the subject of a recruiting war since his highlight tape began to circulate in December.

Since then, Ioane has been hearing from a number of schools, including Washington, Boise State, and Stanford.

However, once source with knowledge of Ioane's recruitment believes that ultimately, he's likely to pick Notre Dame on National Signing Day.

Former Punahou teammates Roby Toma and Manti Te'o are both freshman at Notre Dame, and that could be enough to sway Ioane. If not, look for him to end up at Washington or Boise State.

That MaxPreps article is from Thursday, January 28, before his visit so their comment that he's likely to pick ND isn't based on his visit.

I like their logic but unfortunately it's an old report.

Damn, I was really looking forward to this kid flying up to the line of scrimmage and knocking people back. He could've been a major spark to the ND secondary.

Good luck at Boise. Boise should join the Pac10 now so Ioane can break Barkley in half on a safety blitz.

Heartbreaking, the thought of him lining up behind manti in the secondary again was very exciting.
