Nice, thanks for the update Jigga. Hopefully Verducci turns the kid into a premier college lineman when he gets here.

Lombard, considered one of the top linemen in the nation, said he was not comfortable discussing the situation until Weis' future at Notre Dame is resolved.

Not discussing what situation? His recruitment or charlies future?

Both.

He was asked a hypothetical and chose not to play. What will you do IF Weis is not the ND head coach? The reporters want to stir the pot. Lombard doesn't. I thought he answered well.

Good for him. saw him on the Lemming Report and seems like a smart kid. Very underrated player as well

he is under rated because he chose ND at the army game a year before he would play it, i listened to mike franks show right after he committed and mike said the kid was great and showed some gusto at the combine, but then evryone just said he wasn't that good and was getting man handled and i think it was because he commited to nd so early.

College football: Local ND recruits Lombard, Rees say they're still going to South Bend; Prater contacted by Kelly but sticks with USC -- chicagotribune.com

By Mike Helfgot Special to the Tribune

The coaching change at Notre Dame has not changed the minds of Tommy Rees and Christian Lombard.

Rees, a quarterback from Lake Forest High, and Lombard, a Fremd offensive lineman, have re-affirmed their oral commitments to new Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.

Both Rees and Lombard committed to Notre Dame long before Kelly replaced Charlie Weis on Dec. 11. Oral commitments are not binding and do not become official until recruits sign letters of intent Feb. 3.

"Nothing has changed," said the 6-foot-6, 295-pound Lombard, considered among the nation's top offensive linemen. "I wish the best to Coach Weis and look forward to building a great future with Coach Kelly."

Per ISD on his visit this weekend, he really enjoyed his visit and was very impressed with Kelly. His commitment is firm.

Because of him moving up the Irish moved up to 12th in the team rankings, w/ 10 4-stars and 8 3-stars now.

Sorry to bump a thread on a player whose name isn't in the news. Just wanted to say that Lombard has been rock solid all year. The other side of the line gets most of the attention, and rightfully so. But Lombard seems to play very fundamental and just doesn't make many mistakes. Also, Golic has improved all season. His quickness allows him to be very effective when he pulls.

Agree 100 %, line should be fun to watch next year as well, slowish start this year but got stronger as year went on.

He will become the anchor of the line. Love how great he has been for being the youngest on the line.

The line next year could be very very good. We just need somebody to step up at center

Lombard has gotten really good. Really glad he has 2 years of eligibility left after this one. Next year's line will be fantastic if the center position works out.
