Prater didn't live up to his hype in the AA game.

Dude, he was obviously distracted. In the past 48 hours, he has gone from going away to school on Monday, to not knowing whether his coach would be there, to complete and utter chaos now that PC is leaving.

I can't imagine anyone who is 18 years old, that close to being an EE, being able to focus on a silly all star game under those circumstances.

This.

I saw him drop four passes. The first, he got hit by three guys at the same time. The second was a bad throw where Prater laid out in the endzone (he wouldn't have landed in-bounds, anyway). The third was thrown behind him. The fourth was almost a ridiculous grab. Cannot blame him for any of those.

Think about his mind right now. He's pissed. He's in "F-You" mode. Wouldnt' the ultimate spite move to be to commit to U$C's biggest rival? Honestly?

GET ON THE FREAKING PHONE WITH HIM RIGHT THE HELL NOW!

With all due respect to Prater. (I really hope we can haul him in...)

... but it's been amazing to watch USC fans, recruits, and those who cover the team on a daily basis... come completely unglued!

Prater looked like someone had shot his dog today when being interviewed. Poor kid.

Sad thing is... most of these high school kids just aren't mature enough to read the lies that SOME adults tell them.

Petey wouldn't even answer his phone today to give the kid the straight goods.... says something about his character in my opinion.

Oh Yeah!!!!
I feel for the kid; he is obviously at an emotional loss, but he'll come to his senses and do what is best. This could be big.

My gut tells me this kid will still head out to USC, even with all that's happened. My reasoning for this is because he already had it planned out in his head because of the fact he was an EE. I'd be shocked if he decommits and goes somewhere else unless the coaching hire takes too long and/or it's a terrible hire.

I'll move this post here its more appropriate.

Just think...

1) Seantrel Henderson signs to ND.
2) Kyle Prater switches to ND.

Rivals top 2 recruits in Kelly's first year... Good things will be coming our way. Here's to hoping.

NO it wasn't appropriate here. This is a Prater's Recruit Profile.

If you want to discuss Kelly's recruiting skills there are already threads open to do so. Take it there.

Prater was supposed to enroll Monday at USC but will not. TFWIW.

If he does switch Kelly better put Barr on defense where we need him. You want your best athletes on D

That's old news Jason, where have you been bro?

Prater isn't coming to ND guys. He can't enroll early here, but at some other schools he still has time, like Tennesee and OK. According to the Tennessee boards he'll be visiting there this Friday. Mike Frank has been saying that he never felt Prater wanted to come to ND, that it was more his family. And now that he's not enrolling early at SC, you're hearing about OK and Tenn, and possibly IL and USC still, but not much about ND, even though we supposedly were his 2nd choice. If he doesn't enroll anywhere early, then ND still has a shot, but not as great of a shot that we originally thought...

I believe Tenn starts classes on Wednesday so if he is not visiting there until Friday he's not going to be able to enroll early. Oklahoma starts on 1/19 so there is time there but if he's visting Tenn this weekend and not Oklahoma that doesn't seem likely either.

I'm guessing he will not be an EE. I think for him that would probably be a good thing. Considering everything that just happened he should not rush his decision.

Unfortunately I don't think missing the first couple of days of classes at Tenn will really hinder his enrolling there early. I'm pretty sure you could miss the first half of classes there and still all pull A's. I would imagine if he figures out he wants to be at Tenn this weekend and will start classes on Monday they would make it happen but this is obviously just my opinion.

Here's hoping he doesn't enroll early though and realizes that he has about a 50/50 chance of graduating from any school besides ND, statistically speaking.

I would love to have Prater play for the Irish, but we are stacked at WR.

Good point Wabash. Oklahome is the big threa because he was seriously considering them back in September if you guys recall. Also, they have no game-changing WR and haven't had a bug WR recruit who's stayed at the school. I pray he comes but this kid's recruitment should be interesting to monitor

I still don't think Floyd declares next year. I think he stays all four personally.

If Floyd has a good year statistically and stays healthy, he will be gone after this year. He has all the measurables and is probably a lock to be a top 10 pick, no matter which of the other big WR (like Green and Jones) declare. He has been injured both seasons so far. If he stays healthy this year, and I am praying he does, I can't imagine why he'd risk it to come back.

As far as Prater goes, I would love to have him, but I agree that he's probably Oklahoma or Tennessee bound. I hope I'm wrong.

If he gets hurt again he'll stay. But if he plays all 12 games and lights it up, I don't think he'll stick around. I guess it depends on how the team is doing as a whole.

What happens with Prater will be interesting.

With Floyd, who knows? Remember all those articles written in the past 3 years about his mother and how much they both value the ND education? I'd be hard pressed to say she wants to push her son to the NFL before getting that degree

The millions of dollars won't be there if he suffers a career ending injury. The opportunity to get his degree from ND will be there. Rocket Ismael, Jerome Bettis, and Darius Walker all left early and still earned their degrees.

Anyway, any new news on Prater?
