I mean okay say we let Kelly play the Bowl game or he decided to wait until after the bowl game to come....guess what other job would be open now? That would pay HUGE and go after Kelly? Yeah Florida. I doubt Brian would've picked them over us...but you just never know.

yep, you just never know. ND got this best deal possible. Now that Urban is done, who was at the top of my personal list, and Stoops was not getting what he wanted from ND to come, we really lucked out in Kelly (who I did not really support in a pick). Just pray that the NC drought is ended soon.

I wouldnt be so sure he wouldnt pick Florida over ND, after all it was Meyers "dream job" to be at ND and he picked Florida so why not Kelly?

Florida can recruit mostly in state and still be elite. That makes it a lot easier for a coach. Theyve been the best program in college athletics for a few years now and they can pay big money.

Not real positive Florida would have gotten the pick over ND. Kelly probably still would have been at ND. He is irish catholic, he quoted his daughter as saying "im just sad for me right now, but im glad because i know this is your dream", and ND has more talent than Florida for the next two years.

FLorida loses its whole defense, more than half its OL, and all its big time playmakers on offense next season. Not exactly jumping into a good situation if he would have choose FL over ND.

No joke. I've been a Meyer defender, and wished he'd come the last two times, but after his woman-like approach to life and career over the last 48 hours, I'm now glad we never hired him. Thats really pathetic.

No admission hassles, No graduation quotas, Disregard to police blotters, No worrying about character issues, at Florida could have recruited by postcards alone... biggest bullshit in a season: listening to Teabag preach... hey Jimmy Swaggart cried and preached and I didn't have to like him either... Teabag is a kid azzhat....

Urbey had it made at Florida...

Urbey wouldn't have been able to handle ND... wouldn't have been resigning would have been checking into Madison Center... That light we would have thought we would have seen at the end of the tunnel with Urbey as coach could have been a train's headlight with Urbey's name on it. He could have flipped and sent us back 10 more years.

We would have been a laughing stock...

Coaching a big name program and mental instability (resigning, then just kidding - leave of absence because you watched a 2 hour practice) is a major red flag...

Here's the thing about the FL job, and I said it to my in-laws right away when the breaking news came out (I'm in South Bend w/ family so I couldn't post): There is no way anyone with a big name is taking that job. No way in hell. Why? Because Meyer was going to stay on in a 'non-coaching' capacity. Who in their right mind would want that job, knowing that a well-rested Meyer was sitting there waiting in the wings, with fans, players and media all begging him to come back at the first sign of trouble.

This smelled fishy from the get-go, and it still stinks. First he had major health problems, then minor ones, and now none really at all other than stress. The doctors have said he is fine, just needs to settle down. As a human being, I truly hope is OK. But I am still skeptical of what's really going down. Call it the Tiger Woods Syndrome I guess.

Whatever it is, he handled it really poorly, going from leaving for good for health issues to just taking a leave of absence and maybe coming back in time for the first game. The way this guy operates (and he is as dirty as they come), don't be surprised to hear an announcement about his status the week after NSD...

He's protecting Florida's recruits. My guess is that the administration was afraid many recruits would leave for other schools after Urban retired.

He's having a full hysterectomy in the off season. Doctors say he'll be fully recovered in time for their 1st game. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

oh god I cant stand that Teabag. hes so full of it and himself.
and yes after this I am quite happy that we don't have Urbey. I think we'll be thrilled to have Kelly.
Better to have a more unknown that feels like hes gotta prove something than a Big Name Arrogant dude that feels hes doing us a favor and thus loses.

YAY For BK! :) Would you like to super size that? Yes PLEASE! :)

My respect has grown wings and flown out the window, this was just silly. Maybe he has been watching too many old 'B' movies on melodramatic cinema late at night after coaching. When Ara did this it was his and his family's best decision, this just looks absurd. I'd like to see Cincy hand them a nice pounding.

Jack looks like a genius after all this no matter if he contacted Meyer or not. Thank goodness he was in command.
