Its fun to watch some bowl games but the spark is gone knowing my irish wont be playing in one. My question is if he had won one more game and Charlie (assuming the game we won wouldve been something like Navy or Uconn where it wouldnt have really helped charlie's case as much as USC wouldve) wouldve still been fired and Kelly hired do we still decline a bowl game?

Good question. Hard to answer though. If I were to take a stab at it, I would say yeah we prolly would have been playing.

If the team we lost to was UConn and not Navy, CW might still be the HC, but even that is unlikely as even he said before this season it was BCS or bust.

One more win probably would have still lead to the same conclusion because this was his 5th year, with his guys.

All the same, we are better off in alot of ways in having the bottom fall out from underneath us, so we can escape the mediocrity of these talent laden, underperforming teams and hopefully look to a team of "tough gentleman" that play 4 quarters.

I'd still like to see us in a bowl, either way. It may have been interesting with interim coaching.

I think at 7-5 we are playing in a bowl game, but Charlie would still be fired. I think 8-4 would have given him a chance but even that would be iffy. But to answer your original question, I think 7-5 we are still playing.

Display against Navy was unforgivable.

GONE.

No bowl game. Go play with Barbie and GI Joe.

With a win during the November slide Charlie's termination could have taken place after a bowl. The Search could have gone on through back channels during the bowl season with interview/negotiations/announcements being made after the games were done.

Only conjecture as we didn't win one more.

No, the reason is that I think it was all tied to Weis' employment.

I think after the UConn loss it was determined he was surely fired and there would be no bowl game.

I dont think 7-5 mattered over 6-6. I think 8-4 they go to a bowl either with Weis but more likely with an interim coach.

I really think after the Navy loss he had to run the table from that point on to stay at ND.
