Irishillustrated had their team of the decade and i thought it would be a cool idea to have a vote on here. each day we will introduce a new position and have a vote

I figure we start with QB. There really are only 2 options but i added a couple more for arguments sake

I went with Brady because he stayed for four years. Both guys played with heart, both guys were great leaders. Picked Brady because he stayed for four years.

looks like someone forgot to take their sarcastic pills today. yea this is Quinn vs Clausen but next thread is obscure qbs who went to ND for atleast a semester.

Gonna try and do new positions each day. Tomorrow will be RB then it will get interesting when we hit WR and TE. Lots of good options at both positions

I get killed for this all the time but I stand by it... Sorry Jimmy, I love you, you are one of my favs...

you can't be the best of anything at Notre Dame with an overall losing record... a losing record to every single rival the school has including Navy... and top it all off by bouncing early...

good luck in the pros... I will root for you no matter where... I love ND getting love in the league... but I'll take the guy who:

A: beats USC
B: competes for or wins a title
C: at least wins a big game or two.

closests we have to that formula this decade was Brady Quinn... on teams with less talent than we have now mind you.

I couldn't agree more. Our QB of the dcade has to win more then 16 games in 3 years.

I forgot that Jimmy gave up all of those points to USC in his three years. He was awful at defense. He's supposed to be a good QB. Why can't he magically make the defense better? What a scrub.

In Jimmy's defense. Brady had a pretty good front 7 in 05

Jimmy's OLine in 07 was Awesome.

I used to say in 07 to my buddy, did you see Sam, he did the squat and let the guy run by you again, he is awesome at that.

Jimmy's teams were worse, and Jimmy would break most of Brady's records had he stayed, I still can't give it to him. I just can't. I mean hell, Charlie was coaching both of them. That Ty Willingham recruited team had to have been worse, am I right here?

No one said Jimmy is a scrub, well except you. The fact is QB's are judged by wins, like it or not. Terry Bradshaw was an average stats QB, but he is ranked #4 on Beckett all-time QB list, why because he lead a team to 4 Super Bowl wins. He is rated 4 spot ahead of Dan Marino a man who broke almost all of the NFL passing records, but lead alot of average teams, and never won a Super Bowl. When you look at just stats Bradshaw wasn't half the QB Marino was, but stats don't always tell the whole story.

I think a lot of people forget the beating Brady took his first 3 years. But he always stood tall in the pocket.

Yeah, I don't get it. Brady had to scramble and get sacked all the time. We haven't had a great O-line in a decade! The difference is Brady scrambled much better than Jimmy and instead of fumbling the ball & throwing the ball behind the line of scrimage, to lose us the game, he could run for a couple of yards. Plus he was money on 4th & short.

Your right I forgot all those top notch defensive units Brady had... what a cop out... the 05-06 D units were not much better and the schedules they played didn't include SDSU and Nevada... and as another poster pointed out... no one but you mentioned scrub and Jimmy in the same sentence, but yeah with the talent he had on offense you'd expect at least ONE win against a top 25 team, or at least ONE winning record in 3 years... this formula goes for everyone... I'll give Jimmy a ton of credit, great player... Notre Dame should be proud... but when comparing him to Brady it's an easy choice... take the guy who won with less

I would say the teams with the least ammount of talent from a depth standpoint were Brady's... and the o line were definately problems for both

Brady got us to a BCS Bowl and almost beat USC, plus he never lost to Navy, no disrespect to Clausen intended.

thats who i picked :) i dont like throwing it all over the yard so the big passing numbers dont really do much for me. clausen was the most impressive but the worst as far as win/loss is concerned.

holiday was 16-8 as a starter.
clausen was 16-21? correct me if im wrong but i think he started every game the last 3 years.
quinn was 19-14? once again correct me if im wrong.

so holiday had an almost 10% better winning percentage than quinn and jimmy was well absolutely terrible as far as winning goes.

so sure those guys have all the records and the flashy numbers and the big nfl contracts or soon to be big nfl contracts but when it comes down to it the game of football isnt about any of that its about winning. and carlysle holiday did it MUCH better than those 2.
