I read the following from Coach Kelly and couldn’t help but get excited. From ESPN:
Looking forward, Kelly mentioned the Longhorns as a possible future opponent for the Irish.
“When you look at the teams that carry the same mission [as Notre Dame], Texas does that obviously,” he said. “Those kinds of schools really are attractive [...]

Eh, I really don't want to jump right back into the old days of schedules that look like this just yet: Michigan, Purdue, OU, MSU, BC, Penn State, Pitt, USC, UConn, Navy, Washington, Stanford

I applaud Kelly for wanting to play the best, and I agree that ND should never water-down their schedule too much to the point where they start taking on I-AA teams like some of their counterparts. But at the same time, there's only 1 or 2 schools that go out and schedule the best in their out-of-conference schedules. That's because the reality is, going undefeated is more important these days than who you go undefeated against most of the time. ND already has enough handicaps in the academic restrictions and whatnot (and I never want them to change, btw). I don't think they need to be one of the only schools still scheduling that way on top of the other handicaps they already deal with.

Don't go biting off too much too soon BK. Establish the program 1st.
