With BK hired what will our record be. Yes it is early but let's see what everyone predicts ?Who do we beat and who do we lose to? This ought to be interesting...

I will flat out say it. 10-2 with a BCS birth. Yep I said it. Dont know who were gonna lose to. Maybe Usc and some other trap game.

IrishR#1, I hope you're wrong cause that would put us at 3-3 to start the season... Let's look at the schedule:

1) Purdue (H) = Should win

2) Michgan (H) = could go either way, wished they would play them later in the year, curious how they will do against UCONN in the opener

3) Michgan St. (A) = tough game, probale loss but the Irish play well up at East Lansing

4) Standford (H) = Should win, running game helped Luck all year, won't be the same without Gerhart

5) Boston College (A) = loss, unless Kelly really has them turned around, besides SC I think this is their toughest game next year.

6) Pitt (H) = tough game, probale loss, though Kelly does well against Pitt

7) Western Michigan (H) = must win!

sorry got cut off:

8) Navy (N) = Revenge! Must win

9) Tusla (H) = Must win

10) Utah (H) = usually everywhere Urban coached at is good for two years after he leaves, then they revert to whatever they were before. Granted Utah was great in 2008 but that was the last of Urban's kids. I think this is a tough game but the Irish should win.

11) Army (N) = will be a tougher game than it has been in the past. But ND should win

12) USC (A) = loss, until they break the streak can't predict otherwise.

That puts them at 9-3 or 10-2... granted you gotta leave some room for growing pains... but great college coaches win right away. (or at the very least by year two)

That's what I'm expecting, but this year is a rebuilding year even if our record improves. I'm not going into this season with big expectations.

11-1 maybe a loss to USC or Pitt and no I am not on Medication or Alcohol. I do see alot of trap games but I see us pulling the wins off

I am also going with 9-3, I think its a somewhat safe prediction.

Losses to USC, BC and as much as it kills me to say it MSU...

Wayyyyyyyyyy to early for these predictions. My God we just got a coach. We don't even know who is going to be on the field (5th years). Why don't we do first things first?

1) Get a coaching staff together

2) Solidify and sign the 2010 recruiting class in February

3) Get through spring ball

4) Let's do our evaluations/ predictions after the spring game in April.

Making predictions now is as useful as making predictions about the 2012 pres. election

agreed, it's just fun Polish Leppy.

I say 10 wins, and a republican in office, probably not Mitt though. His Mormon side doesn't bode well with the Heartland.

Prediction: Floyd wins Heisman, leaves after next year.

At least the Dems have an incumbent. Pro or con.

ND doesn't know if it has a sholarship QB that can play yet. The only scholarship QB is rehabbing from ACL surgery. One recruit may be a student for Spring Ball if he's enrolled. The other recruit is still deliberating whether he fits in UC's offense and so not whether he will be an ND student - next summer. Right now ND's QBs are 2 walkons, Brian Castello and Matthew Mulvey or maybe Goodman or Dan McCarthy.

What the offensive scheme will be? Does Kelly adapt the players to his scheme or his scheme to the players (whoever they may be).

Without knowing who the defensive coaches/scheme/players are, there can be no predictions just wild ass guesses.

And the WAGers will argue their baseless "predictions" with passionate certitude.

I would love nothing more than too win 9 or 10 games. Now that being said a one or two game improvement would suffice. With us losing GOLDEN and CLAUSEN this would be a great improvment in my eyes. Am I shooting to low here?

I just want to see the team not lose games because of bad tackling. I hope we get some attitude and knock the shit out of some teams in 2010

No jimmy, no golden and a suspect defense i'm thinking 7 or 8 wins, if qb play is good and the d can make some improvements maybe they can get to the 9 or 10 win range

I think we need to set good be logical reality goals. Unless we are the absolute shits Im going to expect a year of growing pains 8-4, 9-3, with a small chance at 10-2. Sure we all would love the Irish to win the championship every year but especially ushering in a new system without our two best offensive players there will be issues. Goin out on a limb I say we lose to MSU, BC, USC (though depending on how we do we can maybe upset them there) I think we get a Gator bowl bid and win that. We got the Bowl streak off our back now its time to win a better bowl game. Second year under Kelly we really swing for the fences. But all this is nothing more than guesswork

This is correct. There should be no realistic predictions until we see who is coming with him to South Bend - on defense especially. Further, until we know how Dayne Crist's injury is, how can a legitimate prediction be made? - For those guessing 11-1 or 10-2, is the answer the same if Dayne Crist isn't 100% (if ever) until the fall? Kind of stupid to guess at this point if you ask me.

Brian Kelly is a solid football coach - not a miracle worker. I think many ND fans do not fully realize: (i) how good Jimmy Clausen actually was; and (ii) how bad this defense actually was (by far the worst defense I have seen in 20+ yrs of watching ND football). There is a lot of work to do and the team is a lot worse than people care to admit. Players such as Clausen, Floyd and Tate made this team appear to be much more competent then they were - lets hope Kelly can turn this around in the right direction - expecting him to do so fully by next season may be unrealistic.

Are we playing with the same defense? 8-4 at best. The offense kind of went south two years in a row at the end of the season (except against Stanford). They need a strong defense to carry them through the times the offense sputters. They just don't have that right now. Yeah, they'll be another year older, but will they be able to tackle?? I saw a highlight of Gerhart against us. I almost threw up. Tackling wasn't even Pop Warner level. It's NOT optional. Wrap up and drive through with the legs!!!! Enough of this throwing the shoulder crap!!

ppl who are saying it's too early, gimme a break...I mean, WTF...are you needing to crunch the numbers to give some scientific analysis?? It's not freakin' rocket science...and making a prediction on some forum doesn't need to be taken so damn serious...Christ Almighty....some ppl are way to anal........

Now then...Looking ahead...The defense can only get better (since they couldn't get much worse) and the offense won't miss a beat...We all know Clausen and Tate were studs; but this time we have guys ready to step in (Crist and Floyd) and our offense will be very solid and efficient...In fact, they'll probably be even more explosive under Kelly's schemes...Sooooo, with a more explosive offense, improved defense, improved special teams, and the team being hungrier and re-energized overall, I will go ahead and make the bold prediction right now: 11-0 heading out to visit USC...and that will be one helluva ballgame...That game will determine either a NC season for us or just a BCS bowl bid...but I'm confident in us playing in a BCS bowl game next season (and BK will win "coach of the year" honors for his work at ND)...End of story...My prediction won't change regardless of who is, or isn't, brought in...That's my expectation because that's the ND standard.
