Brian Kelly New Coach Press Conference

Swarbrick is doing a really nice job so far. He is talking about how he "went underground" during the hiring process. He also said some nice things about Golden and Jimmy. He talked about the players "involved" in the decision, the one nice surprise I heard in there was Manti. While I guess I should have figured this as he is our future, I didn't think they would put a freshman on that council.

Whew... a few quick thoughts

1) the media eat him up and like him. you can tell. even the cinci guys.

2) he's going to bring the passion and motivation charlie's personality lacked

3) chuck martin is going to accept a job on this staff after saturday night

4) i like how family oriented he is. notice ethan johnson sitting next to his son?

5) he told the players to get away, go home, relax, and come back ready to WORK

6) he thought the reception area in the football office was his office. it was hilarious, but i like his humility

all i can say is WOW. i was very impressed.i teared up a little too.this guy is just like us.he grew up watchingND and dreaming about being a part of the university one day and his dream came true today. this is what our university is all about.
he is a smart guy.very highly motivated.passionate.
i can see him leading us to the promised land.
this is THE guy.i cant wait.
this is the most excited ive been for ND in a very long time. I will be back in South Bend for the first time in 15 years(since i lived there) for the Blue/Gold game this spring,and cant wait to see you guys there.

no...its still 9 months 23 days away

but wow what a presser. the dudes amazing. I just couldn't stop grinning the whole time. IT was hilarious when the report was like "they only know Lindsay Lohan" big pause ..Kelly "good one chuck" LOL It was hilarious!
The guy is just genuine and real. Hes not depressing and ....... charlielike. hes up beat and great. Can't wait to watch Inside Notre Dame with Kelly there.

They showed his family when he told them to stand up. When the archive of the presser goes up, just re-watch it.

espn didnt show video of them,but on und.com their cameras did.
pretty wife,and looks like he has some good kids.
i loved what he said about his daughter saying she was sad,but knew it was his dream.

Jeffers interviewed Crist afterward... he's fired up.
Jeffers said he hasn't seen as much excitement since Lou's presser... and said the vibe with BK personally is eerily similar... not as many funny quips, however, he said it was like was "channeling" Lou.

1. passion for the game and the irish
2. execpt the players to play with passion.
I want to suit and play for him i agree with jeff jeffer in this guy ND finally got the coach that has dreamed about this job all his life. that could be more imporant than anything else

during the question and answer he talked about doing what you need to do every day. being on time, knowing your assignments etc... which is discipline

he said you cant be at burger king at 3:30am and expect to have a good workout at 8am. its not about xs and os on saturday as much as it is the preparation that you do everyday towards saturday.... big fan of these things.

1 no didn't mention BK cause same initials.

2 ask Charlie Weis. I believe there were rumors of Charlie and Burger King having a deal to be open a 3:30 am.

I thought the same thing about CW. He preached about toughness too. Talk is cheap. Action is everything. It is time to hit the recruiting trail for the next week, and build on the momentum of the hiring.

I like the hiring, but I also want to see results.

I am a UC Bearcat season ticket holder and just wanted to say even though I don't root for Notre Dame...Good Luck to the Irish and Coach Kelly. He changed the attitude of the city and fan base for UC athletics in Cincinnati and I hope that his career can continue on the path he left behind. I had the opportunity to see him at a couple of sports stags in Cincy and read about him daily in the paper. He is a class act and fantastic motivator and I think that he will bring good things to ND.

"a winnining attitude just emanates from Charlie Weis. if he is not the one who can bring Notre Dame back to prominence, nobody is."

so, this presser went just as i expected. Kelly said everything i expected, and it sounded like the Notre Dame SID could have written his speech for him.

Are you saying because he said "no-tre" sometimes instead of "no-ter?" I mean I say "no-ter" too because it's faster, but Fr. Jenkins always, always says "no-tre," so maybe that's where he picked it up.

Wow nice buzz kill! Can't you just put aside your feelings and let people be excited. We need something to get us through until next season.
