I'm sure Ianello and/or the other assistants will stay in touch with all the recruits, verbals or not. ND assistant in-homes aren't worth much at the moment. Many questions with no real answers.

What's the first question you'd ask Ianello? "Coach, who's the new Head Coach at ND?" Next question would be, "Will you still be there?"

ND needs to get the Search Process done and then the new coach will set the marching orders for recruiting. ND's Banquet is 12/5. It'd be ideal to have the new HC there to address the crowd.

So much for my thoughts, IrishAddiction. Nix joined the commits on12/1 and Ianello has the maximum number of coaches out on the road. See the Nix thread for how the coaches handle, Who's the next coach and are you still going to be there. Good answers.

Offensive tackle prospect Seantrel Henderson is still considering the Notre Dame Fighting Irish - ESPN

12/1 ISD article (freebie) on Henderson and the coaching situation.

N.B. Take any speculation on the prospective Head Coach over to the New Head Coach Thread.

We'll definitely be monitoring real close what Notre Dame's decisions are regarding the coaching staff in the near future. All of the plusses about the school, especially where education is concerned, tradition, and the values and degree coming from Notre Dame are the strengths of the school, and why we're looking at them."
The elder Henderson added that hiring a big-name coach would certainly catch his son's eye, but whatever direction Notre Dame goes in, they'll look into any coach.
"We'd have to do a little more analyzing," Henderson said if Notre Dame went with a coach that wasn't a household name. "It would probably effect [Seantrel's] personal decision. For me as a father, I would do more homework so he could make a more sound decision, but it's hard to tell a kid about a coach he's never heard of, when he's heard of all these big names and what they've done.
"The coaching and football are second to the education and situation Seantrel would be in. We know he's going to play, and get opportunities, and get as close as he can to a title. We're concentrating on the balance of education and football.

Big Name..... i wonder if Henderson considers Kelly a big name.....

Meyer and Stoops both sound pretty dang big though.

Very very glad to see we are still in the mix with Seantrel..... definately still our top OL prospect.

Yah, we're irrelevant when the best tackle in the country is waiting to see who the coach is before he makes his decision. Keep your fingers crossed because this young man and his family are good people and we could use this stud. Hope you come our way SH.

reality... we never had a real shot with SH to begin with.... not with a 6-6 record... he wants to play and he wants to compete for a title... we can give him one for sure... the second we all believe we can give him but can't prove it

Dude... what are you talking about? Instant PT? And his friend from High School on the team? Really? We have had... and still have... a great shot.

Agreed he is probably top priority now. Its sure would be nice to have him protecting dayne's blindside for the next 3 years. Although it seems to be a longshot

Rivals did an interview with Seantrel on the radio this morning. Extremely mellow kid by the sounds. When asked about what schools he is looking at he said tOSU, ND, USC, UF, and OU or Miami.

He was also asked if tOSU was #1, he replied "I guess you could say that but I'm not really sure, I am still kinda open"

My opinion of his order is as of NOW: tOSU, then ND & USC tied.

He is taking two more visits.

He won't decide til NSD.

Him and James(Matt) would be huge gets. I really think we have a great shot with the kid..... but everytime i think that we get screwed.

Maybe i should think we have no shot.

Well, he talked to the Iowa Scout guys at a recent basketball game, and you're not going to like what he had to say about ND:

“It might be too small; it's a smaller college town and doesn't have the advantages of being in a big city,” he told Gopherhole.com.
Ouch. Remember, it's always been his dad who has tralking about ND, never Seantrel. That's why so many of us wrote him off until his dad came out and saud that ND was in the mix and that they'd get a visit. More from the quick interview:

He goes on to talk about the positives of USC - “Everything pretty much. The city of LA has a lot to do. All of their education aspects are great. Everything out there is real nice. Their atmosphere is good; the teammates and the coaches all get along so well.”

And then the positives about Ohio State - “Kind of the same as USC, the atmosphere in the city of Columbus is great. Everyone on game day is all in to it.”

This sounds like something I've read before, last spring or summer, about Henderson but I just read the whole thread and can't find it.

USC actually is a very good University and ranks very high on the US News top 50 list (#26). I'm not saying it is quite as good as a degree from Notre Dame, but I also feel Notre Dame fans can be a little arrogant and naive. Believe it or not, there are other Universities out there that provide good educations.

With that being said, Seantreal is 6'7 325 pounds and can dance like a ballarina. This kid's future is on Sunday.

oh, give me a break... ND fans know where we stand and sure as hell know where SC stands, and it's no where close...

Scout.com: The Bootleg's Graduation Rate Analysis

any athlete talking about USC as an academic school is lying or they are the naive one. It is no secret SC athletic programs have lived on islands from the rest of the campus for decades... and when you considered them being a "top flight private school" they always pretend to be, that's embarrassing...

btw, two interseting facts about SC... they have the top film school in the country as a private school... and they have rarely if ever sniffed the top 25 schools in the country... that speaks volumes to the substance (or obvious lack thereof) of the rest of their programs

and two, they claim to be a top university yet every single year that can't top the PUBLIC SCHOOL just down the road in UCLA when it comes to any possible academic list out there.

So yeah, if you want So Cal weather and a good degree you go to UCLA... period.

USC has risen alot recently as far as academics and they have a preety reputable medical and film school but they are not that good. UCLA is a much better school academically. USC has the name and the alumni, those basterds stick together

What do a UCLA student and a USC student have in common? The both got in to USC!!!

Seriously, it isn't just about overall quality education at USC versus ND. It also has to do with the special treatment football players receive. I have known players personally from both schools and, I can assure you, the players at SC have much different treatment academically. ND doesn't cut corners with their athletes.

Also, the quality of SC's film school has a lot to do with it's close proximity to the film industry as well as the alumni that still participate in the program. Will Farrell went to SC and he still comes back and does a lot of work with the program. When Spielberg can just "drop by" for an impromptu lecture, it boosts the enrollment of your film program considerably.

Seantrel Henderson, a 6-foot-8, 338-pound tackle from St. Paul (MN) Cretin Derham Hall, was named USA Today Offensive Player of the Year, the first time an offensive lineman has received the award. Henderson visited Florida this past weekend and is considering seven schools

This is from 12/23 - before Meyer retirement

This is from 12/23 - before Meyer retirement

Per Bill Kurelic

Where will top undecided recruits from Big Ten region end up? - ESPN

Seantrel Henderson has made official visits to Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC and Florida. His last visit will go to Oklahoma, Miami or Iowa. Before the coaching change at Notre Dame, I thought Henderson's decision might come down to the Irish or Buckeyes. Now, I think it comes down to Ohio State, USC or Florida. My gut tells me Henderson will decide to stay in the Midwest and Jim Tressel wins a huge recruiting battle over Pete Carroll and Meyer.<!-- end free preview text -->

I know I'm a pessimist and all but I say this kid either stays in the midwest with Ohio State or Minnesota (LOOOOOONG Shot). More than likely the Buckeyes though.

I agree on both counts, pessimist and OSU.
