It seems unfair. It makes me regret them not going to the bowl game. Atleast ND would still be in the NCAA picture. but now... Tate was #5 Cannidate and now hes like no where.

You gotta have wins to get in the Heisman talk. If ND had not slid through the entire month of Nov. Clausen was a shoe in. They are still wondering who it will be, because Tebow & McCoy looked like shit on Sat. Tate probably would have been #4 four (had they won) following Clausen, Ingrahm, & Gerhart or what ever his name is out at Stanford.

I know...thats what makes it so much more tragic.
but even after all their losses, just last week ESPN had Tate at number 5!

But no Clausen? That's ridiculous. Manning doesn't have the numbers Clausen does.

So you think that Notre Dame playing in the GMAC Bowl or the Little Caesar's Bowl was going to help Tate's Heisman hopes???

Tebow's Heisman

Tebow's Heisman

On the wins note Tebow won the Heisman his sophomore year when Florida went 8-4 during the regular season. Shows how much of a media darling Florida and Tim Tebow are. The field that year may have been weak, Darren McFadden finished on a team with the same record and he had two impressive games, one which helped knock off LSU.

9-3. And they won their last 4 and scored 45+ in those games. That was also Tebow's 20 rushing TDs and 20 passing TDs year.

Tate is the best reciever in college football put up unreal numbers and still didnt keep him at number 5? Are u kidding me! NFL teams should be praying to get this kid in the draft.

Dennis Dixon would have won it had he not gotten hurt that year

Well if you want the most outstanding player in the country then Suh from Nebraska should win the Heisman.

I would have no problem with Gerhardt/Suh winning this award but for Tate not to be invited shows the shallow value of this award. What a circus espn has turned this into/its ackward presentation is only topped by they way they pick the candidates. There are 3/4 backs in the country that could have done what the guy from Ala did running behind that line. He's good but not a Heisman Trophy winner in my eyes.

I get what you mean, however........

Couldn't it also be said that there are other receivers out there who would have put up the same numbers, playing in Weis' system, with Jimmy Clausen throwing to them, and with Michael Floyd also on the field for much of the year?

I'd vote for Ingram because he was the entire offense for the number one team in the country in big games.

Navy game really took both Clausen & Tate out of it. I don't think they ever really had a chance anyway. Media barely gives Tate the respect he deserves.

well it sure couldn't have hurt. It would have atleast kept ND in the NCAA Picture. Yes the Heisman is before bowl games but like I said people would be talking about...how their going to play, who they play against..the kinds of match...etc that would keep the talk up about Tate/Clausen. but now...its all about the Coach. So their out of the picture until they make an anouncement.

but yeah Ingram should win it. After Tebows horrific playing and McCoys also pretty pathetic playing.
