Martin for Nix? I'll take that trade

Martin is undeniably a special player. He would make any team better. However, ND seems to have the DE position well stocked. With Nix on board, Ethan Johnson can finally move to DE and team up with KLM to form a nice tandem. Nix will dominate inside early, and we have a rotation of Stockton, Williams, and Cwyner. I think DT is now a position of strength for the Irish.

And if you look at other DE candidates at ND, namely Darius Fleming and possibly Steve Filer, then ND has a lot of depth there. Plus we have a 4 star in Leuders coming in so I think we will be ok.

This hurt a little bit but when you look at it, I think ND will be fine.

I'd rather have a kid who wants to be at ND than someone who doesn't. It was a double addition imo.

I'd rather have both. Our DE's didn't exactly set the world on fire this year.

Don't llok for Nix to dominate early. It's a TOUGH position to play early, in the sense that you NEED to be incredibly physically strong and that takes time to attain. Stockton is a beast and he redshirted, Ethan is a beast but he didn't dominate his freshman year (wish we didn't have to play him), KLM is a stud and he redshirted.

I hope Nix does come in and dominate, but it wouldn't surprise if he didn't...it wouldn't even surprise me if he took a redshirt to get stronger...

I HOPE he takes a redshirt. There's nothing like a year in the weight room to get one ready to do battle in the trenches, if he comes in and has to get ready to play every week he's losing out on a chance to get stronger, quicker, and ultimately better.

Glad we got Nix. He places a lot of value on a ND education. Rumor has it that Florida was pushing hard to get him.

Wishe we could have both. We need true DE's and have NOBODY behind KLM and EJ

Yeah, I should amend that to say he should dominate competition at DT for a starting spot, which is really what I meant. DT is a hard position to play, but I think he is already better than most we have with the possible exception of Stockton, whom I am really excited about.

If it's Stockton and Nix starting at DT next year (or maybe the next), are you not excited about that? I am and think it could be a very very good DT rotation.

We deeded Marin period. It was one of the more painful setbacks of the Weis firing. He could really seal the end and would have helped sure up the run d in a big way.
