Tonight's Banquet

According to people who were there, per ISD:

* Tate and Clausen got Co-MVPs

* Olsen got top linemen of the year.

* Anello got an award (I forget what...I'll post later)

* McCarthy got an award for basically embodying everything a ND athlete/teammate should be.

* Fleming, to my surprise, was voted top D-Linemen of the year. I thought it would have gone to Johnson or KLM. Imagine if Fleming had gotten more time (wait, I'm starting to get upset all over again).

***CW spoke, and there were no tears or emotions from him at all. He said he wasn't going to cry or get emotional because nobody should feel sorry for him, and he only felt badly for the boys. Said he and his family would be fine. Talked a lot about their heart and that they should finish out their semester in school with the same heart they finished games. He also stressed the importance of a ND degree and how it got him into so many doors as a coach just because of it...

Hopefully not the hire...... take your time, thats my opinion. If it isnt the right guy, dont go with it. Wait to see what happens after this weekends game, and maybe some bowl games.....

I agree not to rush this decision. But the longer it goes on the less likely you are, to get one of the guys at the top of your list.

The more we are seeing about Coach Weis' character, the more I am impressed with the man. Unfortunately, it is only really becoming so evident in the tumultuous time after his termination. He has handled this situation with class and dignity - something a so-called arrogant SOB would not do. His alleged arrogance was something his detractors used against him throughout his career, but in these last few weeks, I have seen nothing but selflessness and integrity from the man.

I only wish that he could be kept in some capacity because he is such a strong ambassador for the University and he is a great role model for the young men on the team as well as the student body as a whole.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at the banquet.
