Expectations for Dayne Crist

For 2010.

I believe Dayne will manage to have a season similar to Jimmy Clausen in 2008, statistically. This is without the seventeen interceptions. Probably somewhere around ten. Expect around 20-25 touchdown passes.

I expect Dayne to make more use of the tight end than Jimmy Clausen has, throwing more over the middle to Kyle Rudolph and relying less on the vertical passing game.

What do you think?

How can we even project anything for next season when we have no idea what offense we are going to run?

I don't think Dayne will feel the need to win it with his arm as much as Jimmy did in his 2008, which could mean fewer bad turnovers. His offensive arsenal will be deeper next year, and if healthy has already shown an added element with the run. Dare I say Colt McCoy?

I agree with NDBCSCHAMPS. how do we know? For all we know we could run an option next year, crist could even be transferring. We dont know anything about next year except its a brand new start to everything all over again.

I'm not overly impressed with Dayne's accuracy, but he hasn't had much time to show it either. With any luck we will have a running game to take the pressure off of him.

His surgery knocks 3 tenths off his 40 and he rushes for a 1000 yds in Paul Johnson's option and wins the first Tim Tebow Award. Kyle Rudoph will score 3 times on tackle eligible plays as he stabilizes the ND OLine after be converted to LT. Rudolph wins the first Andy Heck Award.

Way to early to tell. He looked in good spirits on the ND sideline last night.

I think that Dayne could have a solid season. Assuming his rehab and recovery go fine I would hope he does not lose too much of his mobility because in his limited action this year it looked like it helped him out. He clearly has great arm strength and zip on the bal. I think what will make the most difference is going into the year as the number 1 QB he will get the vast majority of the reps to get comfortable with the offense and develop a chemistry with the WR's, and TE's. That will be key especially if he and Floyd can be on the same page just like Jimmy, Golden and Floyd.

He's got the tools to be good but only time will tell. To many variables to determine how good of a year he had. His injury, what tate does and who the next coach is. My gut feeling is he's a household name by the time he's done, but hell thats just me

I'd type what I thought Crist would do, but until I know who the OC will be, I don't know.

How serious is his injury?

What offense will we run?

I think Crist will be a good one for us though.

This is the key. I think that all expectations must be tempered in light of the injury, just because he can play at a certain time does not mean that he will not be somewhat hampered.

Dayne will be fine and he has had 2 years under Weis so i trust he will be ready but there is no telling whatan injury like that might do to him mentally

I am not big into predicvtions but from what Ive seen I will say this:

Dont expect anything like Jimmy Clausen and get ready for about 12 interceptions.

Weve been spoiled, as well as our receivers, by Clausens remarkable accuracy.

Ive rewatched some games this season (almost all except Nevada and WSU) and some of the passes he pulled off, 2/3rds of NFL qbs dont make right now, today.

Dayne Crist could have a nice season and have it look terrible in comparison to what were used too.

Hard to say. It'll really hinge on the the coach, the type of offense they bring in & weather or not he can transition. Remember he has trained 2 years under CW's all out aerial attack style offense.

That being said he has the tools to run any type of offense. His big & mobile (can run much better than Clausen) & has the arm strength. Only question will be his accuracy which looked pretty bad vs Washingtion St.

Theres just to many unknowns at this point to make an accurate assessment.

It's way too early to start throwing out numbers for dayne crist next year.

Above all he needs to get healthy, get that knee strong, and continue to grow as a leader. He was exceptional in this aspect during recruiting that 2008 class and keeping 98% of it together.

Dayne needs to go into 2010 ready to take the reins as the leader of the offense.

i would attribute his accuracy issues against WSU to being overly jacked up. i think he'll settle down nicely.

yes but I think you can expect to see a little bit more of that atleast until he gets a handful of quarters under his belt.

The reason Jimmy only has 4 picks is because he never throws over the middle. Everything he throws is either a deep ball, a fade, or to the sideline. I don't think he is really as accurate as he appears. Tate and Floyd sure make him look good on those deep balls. He underthrows them a lot.

Clausen's deep balls were noticeably off against Stanford. He just couldn't put it on the money. Thank god for those interference calls and our awesome receivers.

Crist has a lot of tools, no doubt about that. Until we know what the new offensive system is going to be its hard to make any predictions.

First, let's get a new head coach.
Second, Clausen has not said anything about his future at ND.
Third, Crist is coming off an injury.
