Chris Martin

Chris Martin

Martin is a big physical defensive end whos got a quick jump off the football. Pure tackler, has a nasty mean streak. Scouts say remind him of a guy like Dwight Freeney from the ol days at Syracuse. I am very excited to see this guy in blue and gold next season, he'll bring alot to the table.

Gone like a freight train, gone like yesterday...... song popped into my head.

This blows. He would be a playmaker for sure.... oh well though, we have the talent here, everyone just needs to wait it out to see what the hell is gonna happen.

Oklahoma might have gone well but i would be more worried if he visits USC or Florida. Chris's dad also told Rivals that if Weis is fired consider him decommitted but depending on the hire that ND is still an option. So for people who are pushing Stoops, Harbaugh, and Meyer than Chris would still come to ND. Anyone else seems very unlikely

I think Martin stays commited if Weis recruits him like he did Te'o.

I think Martin stays commited if Weis recruits him like he did Te'o.

That takes place after the regular season during in-home visits. Weis is great at this and he is one of the main reasons the NCAA changed the rules for spring visits because guys like Weis and Pete Carroll simply outworked other coaches. All of those long shots like Henderson, Joyner, and even Martin could change their minds but with Weis likely out its gonna be tough

And his mom told ISD that he is still committed to ND, with or without Weis. They want Weis there, but they know ND is more than just football, and that they care about education. He is still taking visits, says his mom, like any kid would, just to make sure he had a plan B in case he chooses against going to ND. But as of now he's still Irish.

Take that for what it's worth. We're in a better position than other schools, but he's not a solid commit, obviously, and it wouldn't shock me to see him go to another school. It wouldn't shock me to see him at ND wither. With recruiting these days, nothing should surprise us...

With CW about to be fired this kid is not coming and has said so in the press.

Link?

Because unless you provide a link, I call BS. Now, personally, I don't think he's coming either, but his mom came out and said that even though CW looks like he'll be fired, Chris will still consider Notre Dame and is still 'committed' (LOL). That is the latest word on the press that I've seen, that they are still impressed with the education ND offers.

It looks like FL is #1, ND #2, and OK #3 on his list. We're not in front it seems, but we are not out of it just because CW will be fired, according to his mom (can't provide a link as it is a subscription site)...

I read that too, but didnt have a subscription. People dont realize other posters wont buy stuff unless they provide a link, so i call BS as well.

We got a shot, but with Meyer hot on him, i dont think we get the kid. Meyer goes head to head in recruiting with the best in the country, and wins. He is one guy, who i know alot of people on here hate, but if he came, the recruiting really wouldnt take a hit.

Chris Martins situation is that if Weis is fired then he is not committed to anyone. Notre Dame will still be one of his top schools 9and his parents favorite), but unless they hire a coach he is already familiar with and likes (Stoops, Urban, Harbaugh) he will end up somewhere else.

btw he will be at Florida this weekend

Not a shock at all. Hopefully we still get him, but this one was a long time coming. I was just waiting for him to make it official.

Sucks because he is a position of real need. Oh well, with a new coach hopefully we'll be able to pull in some DEs because the ability to play immediately will be there (although I think Filer and Fleming could be beasts next year at the DE spot)...

I hear that he said he was considering all options and won't comment again until February 3......

What a rollercoaster today. Steve Wiltfong is all over this, and he talked to Martin and his parents, and ND is OUT. Top 4 of only OK, USC, Cal and FL.

Wiltfong then talked extensively to Martin's mom, and she is saddened and upset and Martin's decision to drop ND. They'll talk about it as a family next time before he decides on his college.

I personally think that ND fans and their stupid facebook crap have pissed off Martin. The new coach, whoever he is, still might have a chance with him if Martin can get past all the idiots with no lives on his facebook (he apparently deleted all ND fans from his facebook friends list a month ago).

But for me, I consider him looonnnnnnng gone. And I've been thinking that for a while...

Per Blue and Gold, Notre Dame is out of the race for Martin. He will no longer be considering ND.

South Bend Tribune just reported the same. ND is out.

Swarbrick needs to hurry up and hire someone before other recruits start jumping ship.

Martin's been gone for a long time

Martin's been gone for a long time

This has been coming for a long time because he was always looking around, and never appeared to be happy with his choice.

I personally don't believe that his heart was never with Notre Dame, and I'm certain the other schools were bad mouthing the Irish. Oh well, it's his 40 year loss!

Tough loss...I think he would've been a difference maker on the field. Hopefully his parents can persuade him to consider the Irish.

He might as well have decommitted earlier and saved everyone the trouble. He was never going to go to ND unless we were in a BCS Bowl.
