2nd Favorite Team?

For me there is no real comparison to ND, and I'm sure its the same way for 95% of the posters on here. But if I had to pick a 2nd favorite team, it would be Georgia Tech. I only know about 5-10 players on the team off hand, but they are really fun to watch. Whenever they're on TV and ND isn't (even against Duke!) I try and watch. Paul Johnson always has small tweaks on the option that make it impossible to stop. He really doesn't get enough credit. They also don't have to chop-block as much as Navy due to their even size on the line, so I like seeing that too. If ND does choose to replace Weis, I would put Johnson at the top of the list. Simplifies the blocking for the o-line, we have great backs, Dan McCarthy could run the triple option well, and our receivers would be in SINGLE COVERAGE every time.

Just curious to see what everyone else's second favorite team is.

UCLA, although not nearly to the extreme of ND. I have a brother and a sister who graduated from there. I'm a huge fan of UCLA basketball...the loss to Cal State Fullerton was embarrassing...

Nothing compares to ND but I do however pull for Purdue when they're not competing with the Irish. I know it's a rival but thats just my nature as a sports fan. I root for local teams (only reason I'm a Bears & Browns fan) & Purdue is just down the road. Plus I have a few close friends whose kids go there.

It's nothing remotely close to pulling the IRISH. I don't get all tingly inside but it's something to watch from time to time when we're not playing or out of the BCS hunt.

I am afraid it is going to be a rebuilding year for your bruins buddy. Fortunately for you a rebuilding year at UCLA is still good enough for a decent seed in the NCAA's

That's pretty much how I am with GT, but Tech is the only team who I actually tune in to watch whenever possible.

I graduated from Western Michigan... Yes I am rooting for ND next year, no doubt crossed my mind there. However, I used to like Kansas State for no reason except I was at somebodies house with my mom when I was like 4 and I remember watching their kicker kick some crazy long field goal.

I grew up here in Michiana and have been an Irish fan from day one. However, I went to Michigan State University and therefore am a Spartan fan as well. I hate one Saturday every year (and now that ND has a decent hockey program about 3 or so other nights a year).

I know the feeling. Wife is from Columbus. Half the shit in my house is either ND or Ohio State. Drives me nuts to stare at shit that says "This is Buckeye Country". I'm constantly turning that stuff around backwards so you cant see it.

Sad thing is I spent alot of summers just the other side Columbus as kid. Dad was from there so I did always have a little bit of Buckeye influence growing up & when I was younger I did pull for them (still IRISH came 1st) but shes managed to turn all that into pure hatred.

GO TITANS

but seriously its Notre Dame 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

I do like UCLA. Great school, underrated academics, and i know alot of people there as well as watched alot of there players in high school. Im not happy Fauria transferred but at least i can root for him at UCLA

I root for South Florida when there on, just because I like there coach and the intensity he brings to the game. It's like watching High school football.

I'll also root for Georgia because that's where I'm from (although I secretly root for Georgia Tech) But none of the teams even compare to my love for the Irish.

Notre Dame has always been #1 for me. I cheer for Army when I get a chance, not that there has been much to cheer for lately.

I wouldn't say second or third favorite, but I like Cincy & Iowa. My wife's family is from Iowa & they talk Hawkeye's 31. I love Cincy's colors(there uniforms r dope) and I live in Ohio. Nothin really gives me that large stiff one like some Irish football.

Ya I like Cincy's uni's & I like Oregons (minus the feathers) when they wear the black. Those semi- flat black helmets are baddass.

Yeah, I like Oregons too!! I watch them sometimes just to see what they're going to wear.

I don't root for anyone else, but I will watch all the games I can just because I love college football. Well, whomever beats the hell out of Purdue and BC is cool with me.
