Stoops is the first guy I mentioned when asked (in real time/life) who I would like as next coach after Ty.

I just can't believe how so many are speaking with such certainty that CW is gone. For what it's worth, I hope they give CW at least another year.

I'd like that too. It's my preference and first choice but if CW is gone....lets get Stoops.

We know thats what you want, bambi ... :)

Yeah, I know I am being redundant (I don't speak much in public and don't have much to say cuz you guys say it all, and better than I can...), but keeping CW seems like the right choice at the moment.

I think tomorrow I will become a horse. A really pretty spotted one. And then beg for the coach from a different school from somewhere else.

Just to change it up.

But I will probably still like boobies.

We can only hope that Swarbrick handles this better than White did 5 years ago.

NDMontana, you are absolutely right. Repeating that the ND job isnt open isnt the best way to unequivacally say you arent taking a job.

Amen to that. im a prostyle kinda guy... what ajoke, any team can throw it everydown and there quaterback will put up mass numbers

We already don't tun enough as it is. AA deserves the chance to carry the ball 25 times in a game. AA, Gray and Riddick would all be 1000 yard backs on other teams.

ya i knew someone would say this, we don't throw 50 + unless pushed to. Like case keenum and taylor potts, and tony pike throw 50+ without breaking a sweat

I know I dont post much on this board but I do read it 5 times a week (for the past 2 years) while working, so no one will know me or care what I say. TBH screw it I'm gonna post it anyway.

I have never been a fan of CW but I have always supported him till last week. He has lost my respect as a coach - he probably did that a few weeks ago when he said DC was ready to run the offense and thats all the offense did was run.

Bob Stoops would be the best person I see coming in for ND. If we can hold off until after NSD to make sure we keep these recruits I would be in love with this idea.

I dont consider him a spread style offense although he might use it hey so do we. Look we even have the Leprecat (what a mistake) very unoriginal CW. I do believe he runs the ball as well didnt he put out Adrian Peterson?
Didnt he have 2 1K rushers last year?

The only person I do wish he would keep if he comes to ND would be the new OL coach I think he's really gotten the OL into shape and imagine what he can do with another year.

Pray

I don't think we would wait until after National Signing Day. That is unfair to the kids and I think Swarbrick will put the kids first.

I have no problem with that, but if he does that I would like for him to get stoops ASAP.
Stoops has the name and the reputation to keep alot of the fine talent picked up this year. Maybe even add some ( like Sentrel).

I agree it is not much of a denial, and it is typical of what you would expect a coach to say in that situation. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

One thing to remember about Stoops is he has something in common with Tressel.
One NC and two ass whoopins by the same two teams in the NC game One by Florida and one by LSU.

That LSU game was 21-14 and I think last year's game was 24-14 or something like that. I would hardly call that an ass whoopin

He did get blown out by USC but I think some NFL teams would have gotten blown out by USC that year

Stoops would also be good in terms of keeping our recruits. I think he has that pull where a lot of players won't want to leave just b/c CW is gone...what you guys think?

Yeah, if you bring in Stoops, I don't really see many kids leaving. The guy is a proven winner.

Oviously you do not recall the LSU game But this help remind youi:

LSU's #1 ranked defense held Oklahoma's offense which had averaged 45.2 points and 461 yards per game, to 154 total yards, and just one touchdown until the closing minutes of the game. QB Jason White completed only 13 of his 37 passing attempts for a mere 102 yards, was sacked seven times and intercepted twice.

Nor the Florida game:
Florida rushed for 249 yards and had 480 yards total offense, and had the ball for almost 35 minutes. Tebow passed for 231 yards and Bradford passed for 256. Which one again is the better throwing QB? Three times inside the Florida 35 and no points to show for it. The score belies the closeness of the game. Tebow also rushed for 109 yeards.

Yes Stoops, won a National Championship. But I would be willing to bet that if Stoops had won a NC with ND 10 years ago, and then was dominated as Oklahoma truly was in both of those losses. There would be those that called for his head as well. Especially, if ND had it's ass beat by Kansas State 35-7 before losing the NC game to LSU.

That K State team was amazing with Darren Sproles and Elle Roberson. I always played with them in NCAA 04 haha.

Good point about keeping kids. Also, if some kids were still to leave, possibly Stoops could bring some of those kids looking at Oklahoma, especially J.R. Ferguson - who is looking at both.

Not saying this is a for sure, but a good coach with a proven record will definitely retain some of those players - and possibly add some.

Looks like i will be losing some vbucks if weis gets fired. Change user name. anyone want to donate some to me or give me some reps?

I like the idea of Stoops if Weis does get the boot. Hate the idea of Gruden or Shanahan or anyone else. And the very notion of Brian Kelly bothers me too because we all remember the caliber of athlete Bob Huggins recruited when he coached cinci basketball : he got the not so smart athlete or JUCO transfer who was strictly athletic and not much else. I am not stating anything that none of you know but saying that cinci athletics does not sniff notre dame academic standars and BK wouldnt be able to go after these players (although i think ND should adjust these standards, my own opinion that i wont argue because you wont convince me other wise).

But quite frankly I am tired of any 'firing Weis' talk. But Stoops name definitely excited me way more than any other name. I think it would be glorious if ND got him because if HE doesnt produce results then i think it would be time to admit that it isnt the coach, rather, its the caliber of athletes theyhave been getting. They get top recruits/athletes just not enough to reload year after year. Recently it seems to have been very cyclical for ND. every 3-4 years they put together a team that has the possibility to make a 1 or 2 year run. And we sit through misery for so long that we throw all of our eggs into one basket and when it doesnt go the way we wish then its pure negativity. I dont get angry anymore, i just lost interest, i still watch every week, but just dont care if they lose. Its almost comical to me. Sadly, I am expecting losses.

This year I dont knock the play calling, i knock the speed of this team. It boggles my mind that Tom Hammond (I think) stated as Theo Riddick returned a kickoff (not exact words) "and here's Riddick possibly the fastest player on the team." I was like "geez he doesnt look that fast." May run a fast 40 but that doesnt mean it translates on the field. Tate is playmaker, Floyd is real solid as long as he is on the field, Clausen is a beast, and so is Rudolph. But honestly their running backs do nothing for me, not sure if its the O lines fault or their fault. Sam young disappointed me. Teo excites, McCarthy does nothing for me (Sorry), their D line does zero for me, their corers are average.

All in all firing Weis and bringing in some other pro coach will be useless. Stoops i like because i think it could sustain legit continuity amoung recruiting and possibly the system. Unfortunately, it is inevitable that Weis will get fired and they will hire someone new in which will we have to hear "yea but he is winning with Weis' players" (the old cliche line) for the following 4 years. And then we can do it all over again for the next 3-6 years. YAAAAAYYY!!!!!
