Why start a new thread for a verbal?

Why start a new thread for a verbal?

He's in play.

From the sound of the Wiltfong article at ISD doesn't sound like he's every been out of it with ND.

Olaniyan Patiently Waits On Irish -

He verballed to Duke in March. And Powlus stayed in touch, as did Corwin Brown. A few weeks ago he went to a Nike Camp and blew away the competition including a couple of ND scholarship holders. FSU and SCA made offers. Powlus made a visit. Olaniyan had visited ND for Junior Day. Duke's still his #1 but he want to be sure.

... All the schools that are on the same level as Duke academically, are the schools I’ll be considering.

Doesn't sound like a done deal, does it?

Great quote in the article regarding ND's recruiting style:

Coach Powlus told me he never took me off their board. He told me we’re a school that moves slow, and we really need to know you, and we’re not going to offer you because a place like UTN offered you. We move at our own speed.

If ND had offered ...

Bottom line, he's listening and waiting - for an offer. If one doesn't come soon he might go to ND camp to earn one, like he earned his NIKE Camp MVP - on the field.

He's in no hurry to make a decision. Could be this summer, could be next Feb.

Camped this week, but does not look like he received an offer. I guess the staff feels good about LB prospects

Yeah, he had a good camp and impressed the coaches, but he's caught in a #'s game. It's actually a good sign for us because it must mean the coaches think they're in very good for Moore and Shembo. They don't need a lot of LB's in this class because of the haul of the last 2 classes. Go look at the current roster and see the amount of freshman and soph LB's. You can't over-saturate one position, not with only 85 scholarships available. They told AO that they're still interested and they're going to keep an eye out for him. He understands the numbers game. He seems to be a great kid, a ND kid, but the coaches like the other 2 guys better, and with both summertime commits, they can afford to wait on AO...

He made an unoffical visit to UM on 9/12 for the ND game and apparently was impressed with the officiating crews abilty to call a game while humming Hail To The Victors.

HILARIOUS BGIF. It's even more impressive when you factor in the fact that the refs had their thumb up their asses on many no calls too.

SN100 LB drops Duke for now; looking at Michigan, UCLA, others - Brian McLaughlin - The Recruitnik - Sporting News

9/21 Brian McLaughlin, Sporting News reports:

Duke's opening game loss to Div AA Richmond lead Olaniyan to look at other schools. He had advised David Cutcliffe of his decision.

... I probably didn't think through the decision like I should have. I had an awesome time at Michigan and I've been in contact with those coaches."

Olaniyan said he'll visit UCLA in November when the Bruins take on Arizona State, and he'll take an official visit back to Michigan in early December. He'll still visit Duke in early December, also, and he'll be setting something up with North Carolina soon. He may visit Vanderbilt, also.

ND does not appear to be in the mix.
