Worse than Blount's by far. Clearly Blount's move was a spur of the moment thing, while this is something Spikes either does frequently or had been planning on doing this game.

SEC agrees with suspension. Bull

you should already know the SEC needs it's top teams to succeed and they need there all americans to play. if they try to suspend him anymore it could mean they could lose, and that just means more loss of money and loss of having the best teams in the country.

just look at how they treat the coaches who try to get the refs to call the games fair.

Yeah, this is a crock of SH%T! I can't believe he only got a half! I played some football and would never have thought about doing that.

You hit people as hard as you can when the play is live! When it is over, you help that guy up and go back to the huddle! Good sportsmanship is key!!!

The SEC agrees because they don't want the GOD KING TEBOW to lose a game and with their best defensive player sitting on the sidelines, that could happen!

The SEC is a freaking JOKE!!!

Talked to an ex-NFL RB this morning who said in all his yrs playing he'd never had anything done as dirty as the Brandon Spikes' eye gouge.

That's from Bruce Feldman's Twitter. The eye gouging and other stuff similar to it happens in high school and D-3 all the time. When you get to playing big-time football with cameras at all angles, most people aren't stupid enough to think they can get away with it. Maybe in a big pile-up for a fumble, but that's about it.

Tell you what, a well placed chop block may be needed to take a knee out, that idiot deserves it.

This is further evidence as to why I NEVER want Urban Meyer in South Bend. He is an absolute PIG!! He runs a trashy program and could care less about anything but winning at all costs. URBAN TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hit it right on the head, at first i was already skeptical of bringing him in. but if it was better for the program then i didn't care but after i seen this, i wouldn't even want him to step onto campus, unless he is in the vistors locker room.

probably the dirtiest thing I've seen in a while. At least yahoo can get it right http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-spikes110209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

In no attempt to defend this thug look at how Georgia was playing the game. At one point Spikes' helmet was ripped off (which if I remember it went uncalled for, which is a lot of bs). Still doesn't warrent a freakin eye gouge. hit the other guy and try and knock him out, not make him go blind.

The second Urban Meyer becomes ND's head coach is the second I start an angry mob of IE and other Irish fans.

Here's an interesting question for everyone: if one of our boys did this and CW only gave him a half game suspension, what would you do? I hate seeing dirty play when it is done by us, and if it was obviously pushed aside for the best of the program I would personally be pretty pissed at CW. Probably go an teepee his house

Man thats pretty tough talk and action from the strict coach at Fla, half game against Vandy. Gosh I hope they dont lose because of that. Urban said he would have a strict talk with him- boy I guess he did. Thats really tough on this fine young man of Gator Nation. But like Urban said last week in an interview he treats his players like his children, boy he must be a tough parent. Funny thing how irony plays out in these interviews huh!

I saw Spikes helmet get knocked off on one of the plays and it was a clean hard hit. There was no dirt there at all. Its easy to say he was retaliating, thats how you save face.

Haha. That cracked me up.

Brandon Spikes should have just said "we are going to be kicking their ass so bad after the first half they arent gonna put me in anyways. South Carolina is the game that matters"

But this is more PC, and dammit, america loves being PC.

He has to be disciplined because, well, he got caught. I'm not sure how many on this board played football and at what levels. Spikes claims that he was retaliating for similar tactics and I believe him and those doing the disciplining know what goes on on the field. Who knows who started the gouging, punching, poking, etc...

I have had the same things happen to me and they were always settled on the field, between myself and the guy who did it. I never once started it, but I would make sure that there wasn't a repeat offense.

The problem is that noting is really done about these things because they are considered "part of the game", like fighting in Hockey.

(i posted this in "Florida Gators Justice")

I would love to see him serve his Urban Meyer ban this weekend and then on Monday all of a sudden have the SEC ban him for one game... that would make my day...
