It is undeniable, to me at least, that this team is better than it has been in past years. If they win out and go to a big bowl game, I don't see how you can be unhappy with that. Sure, everyone wants to win a National Championship every year or be at the top all the time, but how realistic is that? College football is unbelievably competitive. There are more and more schools who have really good programs. I'm not saying people should be happy with mediocrity or less, but at some point people need to look at if the program is progressing or regressing. I think the program is progressing and graduating kids and bringing in great recruits. That's postitive.

i agree with domer, but i think that we need to wait and see how the rest of the season pans out before we discuss all of this "Is weis doing a good enough job" stuff.

So How Does One Measure Worthiness To Be An Irish Fan?

So How Does One Measure Worthiness To Be An Irish Fan?

Disagree with him all you like. Don't take things to a personal level and claim to hold the power to determine who can and cannot be considered a fan.

So he can do the same???

100+ posts= respect??

Did you even read what he said to me??

He attacked ME TWICE in this thread, once personally saying--first indirectly--"When someone with 13 posts (I had 15 at the time, actually) starts throwing insults around, he has no leverage.. And then directly impugning my right to have a dissenting opinion, "And dearest Philip, when you reach 100 posts your opinion might matter a little more to me."

So basically, phork can tell me that I am not a real fan of ND because my posts don't exceed his number of posts?

How is this remotely fair??

To me, there should be some sort of of equal amount of calling out, because phork does nothing but present negative/anti-ND posts, almost regularly, and if I don't have the right to be offended by his personal attacks on me, then I don't see the fairness of it.

Oh, and the way he ends his first line with:

Yah Yah I know what you are thinking. Now shut up.

VERY VERY CLASSY and totally non-antagonizing.

Either he stops "debating" because he can never let it go without some sort of insult creeping into his "dialogue", or you should just let the "players play" as they say in basketball.

Either the same standards apply to ALL members of the board or they don't. I just want to know. Because I thought that this atmosphere would honestly be better patrolled than the last BBS I participated upon amicably for 3+ years until I got called a sheep-humping homo for being an Irish fan my whole life.

And here I go to an all Irish BBS, I get called out because I reacted to someone else attacking me twice in one thread? And by the way, if you ban me, and not phork, that just cements in my head, the idea that apparently quantity of posts is how you define worthiness when it should be allegiance. Not some silly BBS rules of conduct which are applied as loosely as the University of Florida hands out discipline under Meyer.

I am all open to debate...an honest debate where IDEAS are thrown around and not insults or the rights of others are demeaned and dismissed based upon the quantity of posts. After all, isn't similar to part of the reason why ND will or won't get invited to a biger bowl this year?

Their QUALITY of wins (ie, HOPEFULLY beating Pitt and Nevada, should they win their conference which they incidentally hold an unblemished record) versus their quantity of wins (10, HOPEFULLY).

Because after all, we all know that a BCS bowl should be all but impossible at this time with all the conference tie-ins, but IF ND can somehow beat the BE champ (most likely Pitt) and Nevada (if they win out), then that still does not get them in over an SC team that already beat them...unless ORE crashes the rest of the season and does not represent the PAC in the Rose Bowl. Then ND can MAYBE make a BCS bowl...

And isn't it interesting that I can keep up with all this even though I don't live in America, but China?? That I have enough time to discuss this. I guess even that does not make me a "true" Irish fan....

Whatever. Ban me if you must, but ban in that case, you should ban him too.

If not discipline the same way that you did me. PUBLICLY.

In either event, you've probably just lost a true Irish fan becuase I can't express my opinion. It's almost like the ESPN boards, only worse, if that is actually possible.

Calm down buddy. Keep posting. You add a lot.

Are you really a sheep humping homo? I like goats. Let's talk. PM me.

About the sheep thingy.

No. Just really ticks me off to get called out for not being someone with a worthwhile opinion simply becuase I can't afford to post all the dadgum time. After all, it is 5 AM where I am. I gotta go get some sleep.

You are worthwhile my friend, but I am disappointed by the teaser sheep remark.

Please don't tease me. I am very sensitive and vulnerable at this time.

I have feelings too. Ya know.

That is not an attack, its fact. You know how many transients we get in and out of here? I have seen more people come and go in a week than you have posts to your name. And when you do reach 100 posts then your opinion might matter to ME.

So basically, phork can tell me that I am not a real fan of ND because my posts don't exceed his number of posts?

Where did I say you weren't a fan? I didn't call you out, like so many seem to like to try and call me out.

To me, there should be some sort of of equal amount of calling out, because phork does nothing but present negative/anti-ND posts, almost regularly, and if I don't have the right to be offended by his personal attacks on me, then I don't see the fairness of it.

You can be offended all you like, but personal attacks I don't stoop down to. The only thing I pointed out was your post count. I didn't call you fat, or a drunk or whatever perceived slight you may have thought up.

Oh, and the way he ends his first line with:

Yah Yah I know what you are thinking. Now shut up.

VERY VERY CLASSY and totally non-antagonizing.

Since you haven't been around here all that long and you have yet to develop a rep with the other posters you would have no idea what that means. I catch crap for things I post because I am not the gold sunglass wearing green koolaid drinking fan that most around here are.

Either he stops "debating" because he can never let it go without some sort of insult creeping into his "dialogue", or you should just let the "players play" as they say in basketball.

I don't insult anyone because I never let it get personal.

Either the same standards apply to ALL members of the board or they don't. I just want to know. Because I thought that this atmosphere would honestly be better patrolled than the last BBS I participated upon amicably for 3+ years until I got called a sheep-humping homo for being an Irish fan my whole life.

Nah, its the fact that I have been around here much longer than you and have participated in many more posts than you have. You think if you started a new job somewhere and go and call out another employee right away that anyone would give credence to your ramblings. Like this?

I am all open to debate...an honest debate where IDEAS are thrown around and not insults or the rights of others are demeaned and dismissed based upon the quantity of posts. After all, isn't similar to part of the reason why ND will or won't get invited to a biger bowl this year?

Unless they are my ideas, because I am Mr. Nelly Negative.

Whatever. Ban me if you must, but ban in that case, you should ban him too.

If not discipline the same way that you did me. PUBLICLY.

I don't have a free ride here either brother. If I step out of line then I will deal the consequences. I don't insult anyone and I certainly don't call out the regulars.

In either event, you've probably just lost a true Irish fan becuase I can't express my opinion. It's almost like the ESPN boards, only worse, if that is actually possible.

Good riddance.
