YouTube - Florida Gators Brandon Spikes gouging Gerogia runing back's eyes

A coworker showed me this today. Will somebody complain? Will the SEC investigate? Will there be any suspensions? That's a dirty freakin play and entirely unacceptable.

saw it happen live and there is no doubt what his intentions were. In the bottom of a pile stuff like this happens all the time. Hopefully the SEC steps up and does something because we know Urban isn't going to do a thing.

Bam! Suspend him for two games, one for each eye. It'll only be one game and that's against the powerhouse that is Vanderbilt. However, if it were two games, they'd have to play South Carolina without him.

This happens at the bottom of piles all the time. Outrageous to fans yes, but pretty common place during a game. This in fact doesn't make it right, and I feel he should be punished severly to stop this sort of thing. I played in college and remember the twisting of ankles, punches to the special place, face washing similiar to hockey, and even pinching...yep...pinching. It gets ugly out there!!!

Doesn't usually happen at the top of piles though.

Nasty attitude with disposition towards the other team....... thats all i can really say.

Nowadays if a player gets hit near the sideline, a defensive lineman touches the QB, or helmets collide, you will see yellow littering the damn field.

This sort of thing used to happen all the time. It was just part of the game. Today a player does it and he is crucified, even if the refs didnt see it. I hate to say it, but the game is turning into a pansy game. It starts at the top(NFL) and shit rolls downhill.

Seriously folks, go back and watch Butkus or LT or Csonka(SP) play, and you will see the violence that is the game of football. Thats all football is, controlled violence.

Not saying this is in the same category, but this is one of the reasons this guy was an all american last year. Nasty disposition towards the opponent ON the field.

Dick Butkis would be fined and suspended constantly now days. This league is big business, and the NFL works hard to protect it's brand. This also comes at the expense of protecting it's top flight players to a state of excess. Ronnie Lott would also be in that same category, the game has been sanitized for marketing purposes. Can you blame the NFL, it continues to be the best ran Pro entity despite the flag football mentality with it's QBS. I don't like it, but what can ya do?

I think they should cut off his right hand.

Exactly what i was saying about the player being crucified.....

UM made a smart move. Set the punishment before the conference has a chance to. Lose him for only half of Vandys game, get to keep him for SC. Call him a liar or whatever, the man is a genius as a coach. Pure Holtz product.

This is not football and wanting to possibly damage another human beings vision for the rest of there life is just down right criminal.

No not crucified, just an eye for an eye. Any player or person that wants to stick there fingers in another persons eye is not mentally stable.

Is this what he was coached to do. I forgot, ur right, he knew how far to stick his fingers in to prevent long term damage and just simply hurt him for the game.

Hince being a football player. wanting to hit somebody to hurt them..... wanting to win at ALL costs...... playing a game where its goal is to literally beat the hell out of the opponent. Not exactly stable men play this game.
Is the RB now blind? Did he leave the game even? I dont think so.

Anyways, its all just my opinion of the game of football. Im out on this subject before a bunch of skirts who never played football try and argue with me.

BRANDON SPIKES=ALL AMERICAN.
URBAN MEYER=SMART COACH, 2 national championships.

Trying to justify this any way is almost as disturbing as the action itself.

Half a game? Are you serious? LeGarrette Blount got sat for the remainder of the season for something no less harmful. Had this not been such a premier athlete I suspect the punishment would be much more severe. Urban Myer is a joke.

Me thinks the SEC will have something more Mr. Spikes

I've played football a many of times, never said that it didn't happen, said it shouldn't happen. Sorry if you or someone you knew did this to make up for your/there bad performance on field, but eye gulging didn't make BS an all american or Urban meyer a smart coach. This isn't something that needs to be done. A real football player lets there game do the talking.

Bradon Spikes gouges eyes of Georgia RB

Bradon Spikes gouges eyes of Georgia RB

I am sure most of us have seen this but I wanted to get everyones thoughts on it. I just saw the video for the first time today and it really upset me. What a POS move on his part, but the most rediculous part is that he only got a 1-half suspention by UM. Personally, I think it was worse than what Blount did in the Oregon / Boise game.

No, I litterally want them to cut his hand off. This was a complete dick move, and Urban should be ashamed of himself for such a soft punishment. It is just plain irresponsible. Urban is scum and so is Spikes.

IA, I played football and i ain't a skirt, but this is a pussy move, no two ways about it. Yeah, it happns at the bottom of the piles; I got bit and scratched, but I never got my eyes gouged like that. And even if i had, Brandon Spikes still is a punk-biatch for that move. The fact that he did it in the wide-open tells me that he does this sort of crap all the time. When you do that crap, you're messing with a guy's life, the way he lives, and you're definitely messing with his money. You don't do that. It's equivalent of an illegal chop block to a guy's knees when is engaged and isn't looking. Worse even.

I'm with you GA; a half-game suspension shows you what s spineless weasle Urban Bitch Liar is. Yes, I agree with IA, he's a great coach no doubt. But I wouldn't want that spineless wuss leading the University of Notre Dame...hell no. He had a chance to discipline a thug-move in front of the nation, and he pussed out...

Bottom line here is Spikes was a coward in this act! There is no excuse for this, regardless of how intense a game is, or a player interaction becomes. Coaches have police their teams, 2 qtrs is a joke, and sends a message to the rest of the team that you do something like this, and you sit for a half...come on. Hopefully the SEC steps in and makes it a game or two if not longer. Spikes is a good player...but loses serious cool points and respect from me on this one.

He is a P.O.S....I played football for a long time including in college, and there is a huge difference in playing nasty and punishing people, and doing what he did. Everytime I ran down on a kickoff I wanted to kill the guy w/ the ball, but I would NEVER do anything like that, Spikes is a cheap shottin puss, and U.M. is a joke.
