Lamest I have seen Notre Dame stadium in a long time, even when the game was close, did the student body even bother to show up?

and I've missed only a few games since '85 and probably 3 between '61 - '78.

I'm so old - I sometimes wake up with a limp and can only figure I hurt myself sleeping. My dad had season tickets and I started going when I was 6. In the early '70s I use to go with an old ND retired coach and former Bear (HOF) Ed Healy. He use to call me when I was a kid to help him move his cows between pastures up in Niles. We sat last row under the press box on the 50 - loved it when it rained...

I actually agree with this. I was a student and sat in the student section during the 2004-2007 seasons and also got student tickets for the 2008 season. I managed to get a ticket for the student section this game and I was quite disappointed. Yes, it was loud but not as loud and crazy as it has been in the past. The atmosphere was not even comparable to the 2005 USC game, 2008 Michigan, 2006 UCLA, or a handful of other games I have been to during the past 5-6 seasons.
Well, you're the only person I've seen who has said this. And I've read a lot about the game, and I've talked to a lot of people that were there, and they all said the atmosphere was electric, as was the crowd. Every recruit has said that about the recruit. In fact, I was just about to post how recruit Jordan James was amazed by the crowd. It's been the theme of the game.
You might have though it wasn't loud, but apparently a lot of people disagree, and more importantly, the recruits disagree. The weekend was a home run recruits-wise, and the crowd had a huge role in that...

I don't know what part of the student section you were in. I was not at USC 05, and I do not doubt it was louder.
However, it was definitely consistently louder this last game than UM 08 or UCLA 06. Heck, the UCLA game, it only got really loud for about the last 2 minutes of the game. UM 08, sure it was loud, but not like Saturday. Yes, there was a slight decrease in energy when down by 20, but other than that, there were plenty of times when I couldn't even hear myself. And none student sections were actually standing for large portions of the game. As for me, today was the first day I talked normally since Saturday.
Now, the challenge, be loud again this Saturday...
