There's a very active Notre Dame Club in Nashville. I went on at bus trip to South Bend when ND Stadium was re-dedicated. Nice people. Google ND Club of Nashville. Email them and ask if there's anybody in your part of the sticks.

There's an ND Club in Huntsville which appears to be as close to you as Nashville.

I'm in TN but not even close to Tullahoma. I'm about 60 miles North of Nashville.

anyone else on here live in tennessee ...

I don't, but would you give my regards to George Dickel and Lem Motlow for me?

I made a side trip to Tullahoma in '73 on my way back to South Bend from Orlando for my senior year. A pilgrimage of sorts. I was one of three Domers planning to visit both the George Dickel and Jack Daniel distilleries. We wanted to see the places where so much of our money went that summer.

We also expected to get free samples as we did when we made trips to the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Tampa.

At the end of the Dickel tour we were told that both distilleries were in the same dry county and we couldn't even buy any, much less get freebies. Damn, damn and damn!

[It appeared, though, that the ladies slapping labels on the bottles had been doing a little "quality control" tasting – every fifth bottle or so wound up shattered on the concrete floor.]

We hit the road and bailed on Jack.

Is the county still dry?

Murfreesboro here. Would sixty miles north of Nashville be more like Franklin Kentucky? There is a large Irish fan base in Nashville. Two catholic high schools in the area. Tate is from John Paul high.

I should have been a little more exact. 60 miles north east of Nashville in Macon County.

I'm from Cali..for..ni..a, Tennessee. Does that count? Drove though Tennessee on I don't remember which highway, but it was my 15th hour or so of non stop driving and I woke up quickly. I was amazed by the beauty of the area.

It was somewhere over there.

It was the mountains and greenery (nothing political intended) and mind boggling beauty of the area that woke me up. I'll look it up and let you know where it was. It was a major interstate highway.

It may have been I 40. I'm not sure. I avoided Aralou, because he is the bad twin. Bastage.
