Time for Kelly Greens!

Ladies and gentlemen, attention to all Irish fans young and old. I feel this team has the swagger to rock the Kelly Greens against USC coming up on October 17th.

This team has produced extremely admirable numbers on offense and our "D" showed up against Washington proving how much this Irish team has come since the Michigan games. I truly believe these kids can win against anyone once again, just as I felt back in 2005 when the Irish were screwed by a Matt Leinart pass fumble forward out of bounds to stop the clock and the "Bush Push." I still feel the burn in my rear-end to those officials...

Charlie hadn't earned the rights for the Irish to wear the Greens then, in my opinion, but the team felt the pride to go into the best stadium in the world wearing those precious jerseys that mean an Irish team is ready to bestow excellence on the field. The game was amazing, and I was so proud of those kids all season long. They were an amazing group.

And now a new feeling is in the air, and I believe this group of young men is more than ready! I think they deserve to wear the Kelly Greens. I also think Pete Carroll will wet his depends when he hears our thundering pulse, and sees the Irish in the traditional "ready to win it" jerseys. And the poor USuC players, god bless their souls.

For the time is nigh Golden Domers, and we are due a victory against the USC Trojans!

OK, so someone fill me in on why we can't be ready to prove our stance and show we're ready to play?

Because if we lose we eat crow? Not coming out in greens shows we deep down inside have no faith in winning. What a better occasion? Are you afraid to eat crow? I'll polish five fattie crows down along with an oatmeal stout my friends...

Confidence, get some!

History has shown we lose in green jersey. I guess you didn't watch the come from behind win BC laid to us a few years back. BGIF can fill me on this maybe, I don't think Lou ever use the green jersey.

Maybe not. What must be realized is that we wear the greens in huge games. Winning percentages are always lower than expected when wearing the greens. I'm sure Lou may not have worn the greens. Wasn't Lou color blind? j/k

I agree and remember. Are they cursed in you guys opinion or something? Purdue went all black and lost to us. Is that to say they never black out their stadium again? I think not... They gamed us tight because of the black, in my opinion.:soapbox:

If BGIF can comfirm Lou never use them, it shows we don't need them. I have Kelly Green jersey and love it, but I don't want ND to wear them. I love how they rock the names on the back of their jersey in the bowl last year to show appreciation to Ara Parseghian years. But Kelly Greens can stay in the box..

Georgia went black out last year and got house by Florida and I don't believe they're going to pull them out this year. I was waiting for someone to post the Kelly Green Jersey topic

Lou used the "away greens" against Florida in the 1992 Sugar Bowl i believe

Lou was great but that was an era. When does ours start? We have to put the past behind us and look forward. We are ready for practice f-ing jerseys against USC!!!

I wish Dr. Lou could comment.

You mean the white with green numbers jersey in the 1991 Sugar Bowl. Yea, those were more white than green. :)

You really want to fire up the crowd and team. Here's an idea... Lets a anonymous fan(USC) put a USC jeresy/shirt and hat over the Rockne statue.. That'll fire ND up.

I say no greens. However, I wouldn't be against coming out in green after halftime, especially if its a close game.

Positives to Wearing the Kelly Green

- The players will be pumped
- The stadium will be rocking

Negatives to Wearing the Kelly Green

- Recent history
- Could actually end up being a distraction

I think the green jerseys lost some of their luster in recent years. I think we need to come out in our regular home jerseys - no gimmicks. Just come out and beat the snot out of SC. I think everyone in the stadium should wear green, though. Just not the players.

Welcome abors JohnnyKills and NYirish fan

Thanks man. I am so jacked to have found this board! I have such a hard time finding fellow Irish fans here. I'm like three hours from Lubbock so everyone is all about the Red Raiders and the Longhorns.

You seem to have been around for quite sometime on here. I appreciate everyone's opinion. I think a green out with no greens would be alright. As I said earlier though, bottom line is winning. I hope Barkley coughs it up right away. I also hope someone gets lit up like the Washington kid past night. I think McNight deserves a hit like that.

I agree no to the greens. Lets stop playing dress up and just kick someone's ass. We have a lot more to worry about come Saturday than our wardrobe.

I remember for the '89 Fiesta Bowl, Lou refused to put the Bowl patch on the players' jerseys because he wanted the players to approach the game as if it were any other. I think this approach would benefit us for the USC game. Lets not make this game bigger than it needs to be.

I agree with Dark Horse to an extent. This is a big game and it needs to be. The team shouldnt need green jeresey to get motivated.

I'm not sold on the green jersey - I was at the original USC game for Devine when he did it. It sent electricity through the stadium. It was amazing, then less so, then - "oh, again..."
They wore them against Army for Christs sake!!!!

Gold pants are a tradition - can't mess with that, however, a truly gold jersey..... with green numbers, above gold pants - uglier than Hell....but ugly is in. Have you seen those ugly ass Seatle unis?

That was a reward to the senior class, not an indication of how big a game it was.

IMO, the color of the jersey will have no impact on the game. The players should be focused and the crowd should be electric regardless. Once someone gets popped in the mouth does it really matter what color the jersey is?

fuck history, wear the green and let's get this party started. that's what college football is all about, the gimmick, the trick, the excitement.

it's time these lil pups defined their time and not the past. green jerseys won't be damned this time cuz we have a new spirit that is growing with each week.

let's kick some usc ass and screw some usc cheerleaders!!!!!!!!
