Playing Washington always reminds of this play and that football is a mere game. Last year at the Purdue game, a friend of mine saw a gentlemen where a pass right T-Shirt. It happen to be the kid's father and we spoke with him for a while. He had also lost his wife some time after his son passed. I believe ND football kept his life going.

Great post! thank you reminding us all of this one important point....as much as we live and die with the Irish every weekend, we have to keep these games in perspective. I would NEVER be one to say "hey...its JUST a game", because I, like all of you, know that this is simply NOT true. ND football is so much more than "just a game", and that could not be more clear when you hear about the horrible tragedies this gentleman had to endure and yet found peace and comfort in watching the Irish play.

The mom died 8 months later from skin cancer. I don't know how that guy could even go through all that.

it always makes me sick to see such good people taken too soon, meanwhile assholes like me continue to walk the earth and spread our unhappiness wherever we go.
