a couple of buddies and i are thinking about coming out to south bend for the uw/nd game. we've never been out there before and are looking for some insites. which airport would be best to fly into? whats the best form of transportation to south bend from that airport? any suggestions on where to stay for the weekend? best game day spots?

There's a thread with this stuff, but I don't have the time right now to look for it. BGIF, another moderator, is good about finding that stuff out. Come back tomorrow and I'll have it up if someone doesn't already have it before me.
Oh, and Midland is smaller and closer to SB than O'Hare, if you're flying into Chicago. If you have $ then fly into SB, it's like 5-10 minutes from ND...

Depending on what you fly you could fly straight into the SB airport. If you want to fly a more major airline flying into Chicago, then taking the bus to the SB airport is you next best choice. I don't believe you can rent a car a the SB airport, but I'm sure something can be arranged.
I've takin the bus from Chicago to SB airport several times going back home. It's well worth it.

There is no car rental in SB airport but there are car rentals in town that will pick u up there.

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford used a simple philosophy to spoil Washington's first game as a ranked team in six years: give the ball to Toby Gerhart and just watch him run. Gerhart overpowered the Huskies with 27 carries for a career-high 200 yards and a touchdown and the Cardinal beat No. 24 Washington 34-14 Saturday night.

The Cardinal (3-1, 2-0 Pac-10) took no time to reverse the momentum following Washington's shocking upset of Southern California last week, getting a 91-yard touchdown return of the opening kickoff by Chris Owusu.
The rest of the game was handled by a physical defense that held Jake Locker in check and a running game led by Gerhart that gained 321 yards. Most of those yards came on a simple off-tackle power running play that coach Jim Harbaugh described as the mainstay of the Stanford arsenal.

"You never have a gimme in this conference," said Locker, who was 16 for 31 for 190 yards with three turnovers. "You can't sleep on anybody. We had a good week of practice and I felt good about where we were. We just couldn't get it done."
This marked Stanford's second win in its last 23 games against ranked teams, with the only other one in that span coming at No. 2 Southern California two years ago. The Cardinal hadn't beaten a ranked team at home since 2001 against UCLA.
The Huskies defense had no answer for Gerhart, who suffered a concussion last year against Washington. Gerhart ran through Washington defenders all game in the best performance of his career. He topped the 100-yard mark early in the second quarter and passed his previous high of 148 yards against San Jose State last year in the third quarter.

i'm sure it's a bit easier when you know the in's and out's of USC's system.
This should be an interesting game. Hopefully, JC and Allen are healthy. This one will be completely determined by the defense. Locker will pose a problem for them. If they can keep him contained, it will be a good day. Even with the injuries I think that the offense can score at least 24-27 points on U Dub. Sarkisian always had our number at USC, can Tenuta shut them down? Can't wait.
