I love the guy, love his enthusiasm. Love his love for ND, but this shit is getting ridiculous. I know its his job to be the pro ND guy but come on. This is bringing more unnecessary hate to ND and making it so much easier for dickwad fans to bash us once more. Plus I fucking hate how that little turd interviewing starts laughing like a bitch and is like, BWHAT!!! WHAT?!?!

I get why fans across the nation get pissed when they hear Lou saying what he says. He's really not objective at all. But you should hear the crap that USC fans talk about Holtz. Calling him a moron, stupid, 'doltz', and these are the nice things. I went on a USC board the other day when I had some free time, and they were hammering him. I loved to point out that the 'stupid old man' owned SC, and you'd think that would shut them up. Nope. But anytime someone from SC says something about Holtz, tell them this story, which I wrote on a USC board:

I might as well tell you about your former USC assistant turned USC analyst who was on College Football Live. They talked to him about the USC QB situation, as he was their "West Coast Insider". Hmmmm, a former USC asst coach is now going to be asked questions about the USC QB situation. This should go about as well as them asking ND about Holtz, I thought to myself. But I gave him a chance.

They asked him about Matt Barkley, and the 'analyst' might as well have gotten on his knees and given Barkley a BJ. He didn't say one negative thing about him. They asked about 5-18 in the scrimmage the night before, and he ignored it and pointed out the 105 yards instead. They asked about the horrible percentage, and he ignored it and instead talked about Barkley's last 2 possessions (ignoring the fact that you guys ran the ball like crazy over your defense). They asked about the INT problems that have plagued him, and he credited the USC defense, ignoring the fact that Corp doesn't throw any picks against that same vaunted defense. He said USC will still easily compete for the NC with Barkley as their QB, all with a huge smile on his face.

I ask you, where is the outrage from you about this bias? Where is the national outcry for this guy's head? Where are your 'moron' comments? Seriously, as an analyst, how in the world can you ignore the INT's, the fact that he's a true freshman, the fact that true freshmen are prone to monumental mistakes at the QB position, the fact that true freshmen just don't lead teams to NCs in this day and age? A real analyst would have pointed to Barkley's immense talent, his chance to start which is extraordinary and a testament to this kid's talent and hunger, but also would have mentioned the things I pointed to above. He did none of that.

Even your own posters, diehard USC fans, say that if Barkley starts all year you guys are looking at 2-3 losses. I've said repeatedly that if he starts this year it's good for ND now, but bad for us in the future because he's going to be a stud. I'm not knocking him at all, it's just football 101. You can't throw tons of picks and win big games on the road (OSU, ND, Ore, Cal). Remember, ONE loss this year and you guys are probably out of the NC w/ the powderpuff schedules of teams like FL and State Penn. So how can all of us point that out, but this clown can't?

I ask you, will you call him a doltz and a moron? If not, then you're a hypocrite, and we can just move on...

USC has the same type of guy, but these clowns said it was OK because he was young. What a bunch of morons...

It's amazing to me why you would even care. Guess what, alot of people HATE Notre Dame. Deal with it. If I were on national television, and someone asked me why I love ND, I would say because we are better than you and what's your big mouth going to do about it.

Do I really think that? No, but its fun to get all the haters riled up. Who cares what they think? If Lou had said we will go 9-3 and go to the Gator Bowl, guess what, people are still going to be outraged, and they are still going to hate us.

By the way, he actually makes a great point. We dont have to be one of the two best teams in the country to play for a national championship. We just have to be the best team in the stadium each saturday. Brilliant if you ask me.

Unfortunately you are asking for objectivity and common sense from people who have none.

Yeah I do deal with it, I work in a factory with 1100 other people and I am one of the few ND fans so I kinda have to deal with it every day, 10 times a day. Amazing that I care right?

No, people would not be outraged with that prediction, what are you talking about?

Which would be horrible, Think about it a ND team that really isn't the 2nd best team in the nation,(but the best in the stadium each saturday) facing a Florida or Texas, who really is that good. What do you think is going to happen in that game?

That's where I disagree. If you give me the choice of being 12-0 and having the chance to play FL or OU in the NC, or being 11-1 and being in a BCS game against LSU, I'd take the chance at a NC any day of the week. Yeah, we're not ready for it and odds are we'd get hammered, but they said the same thing about OSU-Miami, LADodgers-Oak, Pats-Rams, etc etc. I'll take that chance any day...

They don't play the games on paper. Football is not a best of series, it is who is the best that day.

Do you not understand that if Lou Holtz said that we would go 6-6 this year, there would be people outraged saying I cant believe he thinks they are going to get 6 wins, they stink, they havent been relevant in 20 years. It doesnt matter. People hate us.

And do you think you are the only one who works with non-Irish fans? I live in the middle of Penn State country. Guess what, I dont give a shit what anyone else says. Neither should you. If you worry about what other college footballs fans think based on what Lou Holtz says, then you are the one who sounds like you are ten years old.

I agree he is a homer, but we should have won 10 games last year. We had a chance to beat everyone we played but USC and BC. We were as good if not better than MSU, NC,Pitt, and most certainly 'Cuse. 4 more wins would have been right at Lou's prediction.
I mean face it we could finish with 2 wins,(I pray not everyday)who knows when Sept. 5 comes and the smoke clears and we see how we look in a real game that is when we will know. I think Lou could be right, but what I know is that if we lose to Nevada, or Charlie doesn't have these guys looking real good that would be his last chance. I love Lou and I love ND, and if it were me i would have prop ed us the same way. GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!

This is right. Notre Dame was moving the ball very easily on Michigan State. They were within field goal range when Clausen threw his first interception. Michael Floyd fumbled in deep in State territory later on in the game. Floyd also dropped a beautiful pass from Clausen that would've made it 16-14 in the 4th quarter.

We all know about UNC. We were also moving the ball very, very easily on that team in the first half. However, Clausen's confidence was destroyed on the first play of the second half, the team played like shit, and we threw away our lead.

Pitt. Three straight plays, the exact same fade, to the same side of the field, and you still leave Raeshon on an island against a 6'6" receiver? Moronic coaching.

Boston College. Take away Clausen's interceptions and he would've had a decent game, with 225 passing yards. Jashad Gaines running into Golden Tate on what would've been a punt return for a touchdown didn't help, either.

Syracuse. Horrible defense and bad playcalling.

We easily could've won ten games and Lou wouldn't have looked so stupid.

Same goes for 2007. Although he predicted a surprise top 10 team, which is off the mark, we very well could have been better than 3-9. Down 33-19 against Purdue, Notre Dame still had a shot. Sharpley overthrew a pass and threw a pick with about five minutes left, when Notre Dame was about thirty yards from the endzone. Had it not been for a holding penalty, Notre Dame would've only been down 27-21 against BC with about five minutes left in the game. We should have beaten Navy. So we very well could have been 6-6.

We will win 10 games at the VERY LEAST this year. Waaaaay too much talent. If we don't, Chives is out.

Also keep in mind that the Stanford game could have gone either way, and we were somewhat fortunate to play against UCLA's 3rd or 4th string QB after their starter went out early in the game. I agree with most of what you are saying, except about the 2007 team. We were just downright awful on offense, and it put our defense in some pretty precarious positions. I mean I've never seen so many 3rd and 12's in my life. But that was then and this is now, and I agree we win at least 10 this year.

Cant get inside Lou's head, respect him ,like him; admire him, hope that this isnt espn(notice small letters). But this I know-on Sept 5 after the first day everyone will know this is an athletic, tough, hungry football team that is poised to win a lot of games. I can hear the train comming--------

Must also say since we're talking hype etc that this weekend I saw one of the major networks 09 preview show, very predictable with NOTHING said we dont already know. What was glaring for me was a recently elected college football hall of fame writer said that just because Notre Dame is playing in Yankee Stadium (2010) doesnt mean they are back. Little smirk and in response to the question of Charlie's job, point being he said Notre Dame needs players(more/better). By him saying that he revealed his ignorance, or just plain pompus attitude about this team. That is what will correct itself this year.

what Lou said will get blown out of proportion; but let me translate what he really said.

Outside of USC, Notre Dame's schedule is a freakin cake walk. They should have no trouble with any team but USC(and have a shot at beating USC)........A 12-0 Irish team plays for the NC, whether they are the best, 2nd best, or 8th best team in the country. They may be 12-0 from a soft schedule, and they may get blown out, but a 12-0 Irish team will not be ignored by the BCS.

Haters will just say that Lou said they will win the NC.

Exactly right, if the Irish are 12-0 they will play for the title, they may even at 11-1 if that 1 is close and other teams lose.....Lou Holtz has forgotten more football than we know, and as far as I am concerned he can say whatever he wants.....I'd let him kick me in the dick if he gave me a pre-game speech first!!!!!

Let me add another possibility from 2Pac for you: "All Eyez on Me!"

The nation's eyes will once again be on the ND football team, as it always is. This year the team should embrace that them, because they should be good enough to handle all eyes on them. Almost time to rock'n'roll baby!

You know that would be a great t-shirt, little set of eyes turned / staring at a shamrock or the ND logo, underneath it saying "once again all eyes turn", they wont win 'em all this year but we are in for one hot ride this fall.

January 8th = BCS National Championship Game.

IT IS DESTINY.
