A Mike Frank Freebie looking at the ND's first three games of the '09 season.

First Three Games No Walk in the Park

He sees Nevada as similar to the Hawaii game - IF ND makes a couple of early stops.

He's concerned about Michigan's talent despite their woes last season.

He raises a good point about MSU. They beat ND with a running game and solid defense not with their QB.

I think he's right, our schedule is not a cake walk like some people try to make it out to be. I think we will start 3-0 but to be honest I could realistically see us dropping one or maybe two of them. It kills me to say that because I think we will be very good this year but we honestly won't know a thing until Sept 4th. We better do good to because I'm 0-2 at home games and I would like to see a victory in person for once. The plane rides back to Florida on Sunday suck when your team loses the game you have waited all year to go see!

Nevada - no defense whatsoever. Horrible, and I mean Horrible secondary. 119th out of 119th vs. the pass, and they were last by 25 yards!!! They got worked badly by decent to good teams. However, they are talented on offense, with a different way of attacking defenses, and if we don't get some stops early this could turn out to be a nail-biter. But we SHOULD stomp them.

Michigan - we've broken down this game ad nauseum (sp), but I just don't see us losing this game to a twig true freshman. ND should and will IMO win this game.

Michigan St. - The game that scares me the most. Yes they lose their star RB and QB, but they return 18 other starters, and they are all-day tough. ND struggles against teams that are tougher (see: BC). This one will be a battle!

First (3) games should be a cake walk! If Weis wants to keep his job these are the type of games you should win, period. We have more talent and experience then all three of these teams. Nevada's defense is horrible and we should be able to outscore them. Michigan lost most of their talent off a horrible team and I think they are even worse this year. MSU minus Ringer at are house...enough said!

After last year's debacle against Syracuse AT HOME I don't think that there is any such thing as a "calk walk"! I believe that all 3 games could end being rather close games, especially MSU because they always bring in a good defense and can usually produce a good running game. At scUM's "Pig House" one can never tell how things will play out!

nothing is a cake walk for ND the last few years but if Weis wants to keep his job he has to win the games he should win...like the first 3!

If ND cannot walk up and down Michigan this year, then they are in for a world of hurt when DickRod actually fields a team.
I am minorly concerned about MSU, but Ringer was one of those one of kind players, and since he is gone I'll put the money on ND.

Nevada....Nuff said. If ND doesn't blow these turkeys out then, like last year, its going to be a long season.

I don't want to seem overconfident, but the first 3 games are a walk in the park. There is no way we lose any of those games.

I don't think the first three games will be a walk in the park. I have no idea what team is going to show up for kick off on September 5th. I hope it is the team that can kick the living crap out of Nevada and then roll to a monster victory in the Big House.

I agree with phork, if the don't destroy Nevada, it is going to be a loooooonnnngg season again!
