Hopefully ND can take this guy, as the Giants has shown especially their Super Bowl year, you can never have too many pass rushing DE's.

I know these kids can get a big head when all the attention is turned to them--3 to 5 stars and everyone is your friend. Frankly, I blame the parents for not directing them to schools where they can maximize their earning potential after college, either from the NFL or the real world. If you think about it, there are only a handful of schools where you have a legitimate shot at the national title and get a superior education. While Stanford, Duke, Northwestern and Vanderbilt will give you a resume that opens doors, none have a prayer at the big prize. I'm not sure who is the closest to the Irish, but the bottom line is once they offer, and you aren't the type of player (and very few are) that they will hold a spot to signing day--better take it.

While I appreciate the fact that a young man doesn't want to commit just to "save a spot" and later break his word, there really isn't a reason to wait and find yourself playing for a lesser school.

This ship has sailed. Hopefully he winds up somewhere on a full ride and gets an opportunity.

His coach wanted him to commit to ND right away, and the guy is an Illini alum at that. Whether or not Carter wanted to enjoy attention, I don't know that for certain. If that is truly the case, lesson learned. Personally I think it is nothing more than speculation of ND fans that are basing it more on opinion than fact.

Reading thearticle i pictured Booby from friday night lights when he gets in the car with his grandpa and starts crying, only he missed his chance at a free ride at ND. Hopefully everything works out for him and who knows with a solid senior year could end up in a ND uni anyway

Illinois DE talking to Nebraska
Defensive end Chance Carter (Evanston, Ill./Loyola Academy) is primarily looking at four schools, Nebraska, Missouri, Northwestern and Cal. He said the Cornhuskers are the only one of the four that has offered a scholarship at this point.<!-- end free preview text -->

How do you not get an offer from Northwestern?

Good school - plays some second tier competition outside of conference - which has come to bite them. Won't see BCS Bowl or Rose Bowl. Big fish in a little pond - nice city. Get's to keep his family close. Close to the Cubs.

I can't see this kid reconsidering us after we pretty much told him we had no room. Kids don't want to be second fiddle.

Second Fiddle?

He's got 3 offers. He got selected to the USAA Bowl. Injured his ankle, played in the game but didn't improve his rankings. He actually dropped 6 or 7 slots on Scout and dropped into the Not Ranked category on Rivals.
