Per ESPN, he has ND in his top 7:

"Notre Dame offered me," James said. "To be honest, I don't know a lot about them but I'm very interested in them. Distance for me will play no role at all and I definitely want to check them out and learn more about the school.

"My list could change, but right now, my five visits would be to Arizona, Notre Dame, Florida, Stanford and if they offer, Oklahoma," James said. "I'll also take unofficial visits to UCLA and Cal since they're both in-state schools. That's my top seven right now.

Five games into the season, he was leading the state with over a thousand yards rushing. Yeah you read it right. One thousand yards in five games. He can come play for the Irish if he wants.

This kid might be the best RB in the state, and seeing how stacked the state is at RB this year, that is saying a lot. A full year without an injury might be all it takes to push this kid further up the charts.

"Coach Polian said that if I'm going to come out of California that I might as well go some place that's special and that's Notre Dame," James said. "That makes sense to me. I can pretty much go anywhere in the Pac 10 and stay close to home, but I have a few schools on the East Coast looking at me. If I leave the West Coast, I don't want to go to a lower school. I might as well go to a higher school with all the attention and the exposure."

I Love Polian. SC game just keeps gettin bigger

jason,

Where is that quote from?

I didn't find it in the recent "James Is Growing Fonder of ND" article. If you can't post the link, can you give the author, or site and date, such as Biggins, ESPN 5/10. Thanks.

According to Wiltfong, we sit in very well with James, and he said we should get a visit. Here's a write-up from ESPN:

Under Armour All-American running back Jordan James (Corona, Calif./Corona) is getting heavy attention from multiple programs across the country and plans to hit the road this summer for some unofficial visits.

UA All-America RB Jordon James rushed for 1,135 yards and 11 TD in just five games last year.Florida will be one stop for James. He will be in Gainesville for the Gators' Friday Night Lights Camp in July. He says that Florida is one of the schools (along with Notre Dame, UCLA, California, Washington and Stanford) recruiting him the hardest and everyone has an equal chance.

"My options are wide open," he said. "Location is not a factor with me."

Academics and playing time are a couple of factors, though.

"Education is No. 1 because it is important," he said. "Also, I want to compete for a starting job and I want some national exposure."

James, 5-foot-10 and 188 pounds, added that he plans to take all five of his allotted official visits during the football season and will make his announcement at the Under Armour All-America Game in January.

Jordan, who played just five games last season because of a broken arm, is excited about being back at spring practice this week. He ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at the Santa Monica Under Armour combine, proving his speed never suffered during the layoff.

"I am glad to be back," he said. "I am getting into a rhythm with my offense again and in synch with my team."

Likes Notre Dame's combination of education and national exposure, but he wants early playing time. not sure he will get that at ND, unless its special teams duty

... I want to compete for a starting job

Weis has shown freshman have an opportunity on his team. Meanwhile ND's RB corps are still longer on potential than they are on results.

There was a recent article on Urban Meyer's lack of success recruiting RBs. Something about his scheme and play calling may not be attractive to RBs with NFL aspirations.

listen to one of the other prospects at about the 1:53 mark, "... he blew right by him."

He did and more than one defender. Looks good in drills.

RB James chooses 4 to visit

RB James chooses 4 to visit

Per Greg Biggins RB Jordon James has scheduled 4 Official Visits:
  • UF 9/19
  • ND 10//17
  • UAZ 11/7
  • UCLA 11/21
That 5th trip could be a few schools, but I haven't decided yet. I like Washington, Tennessee and a few others but I do want to take all five visits if I can.

James has cut Florida from his list with Mack Browns commitment

"Right now, I have three trips lined up. Notre Dame (Oct. 17), Arizona (Nov. 7) and UCLA (Nov. 21). I'm also talking with Washington and I'm going to try and get a visit set up with them later this week. For my last visit, I'm looking at a number of schools including Cal and Tennessee."

Sadly I think RBs are a dime a dozen. Several NFL teams have proven this point. Find someone that can hold the ball and runs North/South. Add some speed, even better.
