Aaron Corp tries to stay out front for Trojans - Los Angeles Times

Aaron Corp the starting QB for the Trojans but he's getting some competition.

Corp, a redshirt sophomore, has been given the nod by Coach Pete Carroll over freshman Matt Barkley and junior Mitch Mustain. Mustain played with Williams in high school and at Arkansas before they transferred to USC.

Pressure from Barkley, who graduated from Santa Ana Mater Dei High a semester early to enroll at USC and participate in spring drills, and Mustain, who won eight games while at Arkansas in 2006, drives Corp to succeed.

Corp is light at 6-4 195 but he can motor

Corp adds another dimension to the offense as a runner. He's fast and elusive, and it shows even when he drops back to hand the ball off to a tailback. The quick feet, combined with a 4.65 40-yard dash, give Corp the potential to rescue broken plays.

Mustain must be so pissed. He tansfered from Arkansas and now he isn't even getting the start. And on top of that it sounds like Corp played under Mustain in highschool. That sucks

Mustain went to Springdale HS in Arkansas (Along with Bartley Webb). The article states that Damien Williams played on that Springdale team. Corp went somewhere else.

The coach of that Springdale team? Gus Malzahn.

He parlayed Mustain and Williams recruitment into the OC job at Arkansas with them. Then Houston Nutt fired Gus and he went to Tulsa (Auburn OC this year).

That is why Williams and Mustain left. Cause their "Coach" was fired. Mustain (And his parents especially) brought this all on himself.

But choosing USC still didn't and doesn't make sense. Why not follow the coach then? Why go to a school that was already deep at the QB position? Who knows though. Maybe he turns out to be like Matt Cassel.

This is Pete the Cheats fault. Aaron Corp is a pete recruit, and Mustain was a transfer intercept. Mustain was acquired so that he would not go to Oregon.

Much like how Matt Cassell (a non-carroll recruit) sat in lieu of MAtt Leinart (a carroll recruit); Mustain will sit in lieu of Corp, a pete carroll recruit.

I'm still not sold on Cassell. We'll see how he does on a bad team. Regardless Mustain is an idiot and has basically thrown his college football years in the toilet. I wonder where he transfer to this year after he rides the pine all year.
