U-M's Nick Sheridan primed for competition | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Angelique S. Chengelis / The Detroit News July 15

Sheridan, like Threet (ASU transfer), took his lumps last year for his on-field performance. He threw for 613 yards and had five interceptions and two touchdowns, and with a few exceptions, he never looked like he was in the rhythm of the offense. To be fair, no one on offense really looked like he had mastered what Rodriguez's spread-option is all about

The other QBs are Tate Forcier, who enrolled early to participate in the early drills and Denard Robinson, who didn't arrive on campus until last month.

I still think Forcier will be the guy. Western Michigan, us, Eastern Michigan, and Indiana is not exactly murderers row to start the season. with how much they struggled last year, i think Dick Rod will go with his guy. I would not be stunned to see Sheridan, but I expect to see Forcier.

Hey BGIF take a look at the comments posted on this article by all the UofM fans. They couldn't understand why this was even a headline in the newspaper. They are all praying that Sheridan doesn't get the starting position.

It would be great for us if Sheridan starts the ND game. And its possible that he could start if Forcier is made a fool of when they play "Wastern" on the 5th.

Sheridan was a walkon not a recruited scholarship QB and his stats last year reflected that completing 46% of his passes for 613 yds, 2 TDs, 5 INTs in 8 games. UM QBs combined for 49% completion, 11 TD, 12 Int.

I'm with BillyIrish, Forcier will be the starter unless he does a Powlus and breaks a bone in practice before the season opener. Forcier is a dual threat QB and did well in UM's Spring Practice. Western will be his first game but he'll have about 9 months working in RRod's system.

The other freshman QB Denard Robinson is a burner with 10.3 100m speed.

I have UM had a couple of more lineman transfer. Any news on this front? This would make them very thin on the front line.

A gold star for The Polish Irishman!

C.P. graduate Wermers leaves Michigan's football program for Ball State

per Steve Hanlon July 14th

Sounds like a repeat of the Justin Boren transfer to OSU last year.

Kurt Wermers, a former standout offensive lineman at Crown Point, has left Michigan and will take his 6-foot-5, 270-pound frame to Ball State this fall, where he'll have to sit out this season.
Wermers said he didn't mesh with Michigan's new coaching staff, led by head coach Rich Rodriguez, who took over for the retired Lloyd Carr following the 2007 season.
"I really didn't get along with the new coaches," Wermers said. "They were bringing in a lot of different kids that were not my kind of crowd. Coach Carr's staff was a whole different ballgame. It was like a family. But when Rodriguez came in it was a whole different feeling. It was more of a business.
"I figured I'd get out while I could."

Interesting. I guess RichRod is bringing in the same classless characters that he was at WV.

He might be soft; that's the way the UM fans are taking it. But I tell you what, I guarantee you he's not the only guy still feeling that way over there from the Lloyd leftovers. It must make for a dynamic locker room between the new guys and Carr's boys...

What did you expect from DickRod? scUM will be the 'thugs of the midwest' w/ that prick as head coach

I had speculations that he had brought in the same "scUM" I just haven't read anything except for this that confirms it. And it happens to be from a primary source, an ex player.

Tate will start. Michigan fans are in love with this puny little kid just because he completed 7-8 passes in the spring game. Just wait till one of the big 10/ND linebackers lines him up, he won't be so strong in the pocket then.
