Not ranting towards you but ND wins the Big East? He picked Syracuse to finish last....Ummmm Syracuse beat us. Anyway theres a few more teams in there that could beat us as well.

Picked to come in first in ACC Atlantic???? NOPE, Wake could beat us, Clemson could beat us, Florida State could beat us, and we all know that Boston College has beaten us what now 6 years in a row?

Picked to finish 2nd in ACC Coastal???? Nope, Unc beat us, Georgia Tech beat the shit out of us, and Miami would beat us quite easily.

Anyway this guy is a HOMO! I will leave it at that!

NDOM, as psycho as he May (pun intended) sound, has eaten crow before. He mans up when it calls for it. I truly believe that he wants ND to succeed. And he has a better track record than a lot of people here. He called last season's record, where some people had the balls to say with conviction that we'd be 11-1 (I predicted on this site before the season 8-5 after a bowl loss. Then after everyone on our schedule got off to bad starts, I actually thought we'd win 9-10 games. Then we lost to Syracuse. NIGHTMARE!!!).

Now, I think NDOM will be dead wrong this year, but we need to prove it. It's walk the plank time for CW if he doesn't perform. Until then though, if we're being honest, a lot of us need to be eating crow while NDOM watches. Hopefully this year he does do some eating (we know he'll be smoking)...

Was that piece written by an alum? I mean, come on, there's the optimisim of a fan, and then there's homerism. Its a fine line, but you have to be realistic.

At least ND closed the '08 Season on a high note. Not like some ND teams of the past have done. In the Hawaii game a team better than Syracuse, ND's Offense, Defense, and Special Teams all seem to come together. And keep in mind if ND was in the SEC they wouldn't be playing USC and UM. They'd be replaced by The Citadel and Louisiana Layfayette, or Tennessee Chattanoga.

In '72 Ara's boys were young and put together an 8-1 record all against unranked teams. Then ND got pounded in the second half of the season finale against USC. Anthony Davis had 6 TDs in the game. ND then went to the Orange Bowl where Nebraska applied a 40-6 thrashing. Johnny Rodgers a scored 4 TDs and threw for another. Three of the worse halves of ND football back to back to back. There were allegations that Ara had "lost" the team. Many asked if it was time for him to retire. In '73 Tom Clements returned as a Jr QB and ND went undefeated and won a NC.

In '87 Holtz's boys lost the last two games of the season the first to PSU on a two point conversion. Then a 24-0 shutout by Miami. ND went to the Cotton Bowl and the Aggies embarrassed the Irish 35-10. Miami and A&M held Tim Brown, the Heisman winner, to 1 TD in two games. A&M held the Holtz ground game to 74 yards. The next season Tony Rice returned as a Junior QB and ND went undefeated and won another NC.

I don't believe he is. Todd Burlage is the Assistant Editor for B&G and has cover ND football for them for past 6 years. Before that he was a sport writer with a Fort Wayne paper where I assumed he covered ND as well as PU and IU.

Did you read Burlage's two articles or just my shapshot of his articles?

Phil Steele is probably considered the most realistic of the prognosticators. His magazine has been ranked #1 in most accurate ranking predications for the past 10 years. His 250 magazine analyses a plethora of facts with emphasis on which blockers and tacklers return, he notes if the 1000 yd rusher or 35 TD QB returns or doesn't. He comments on the backups and on the schedule.

He comments on last season's young team, which he predicted to do better, blowing 3 double digit second half leads.

His analysis for '09 has ND at #7.

BTW, that's ranking is where Steele predicts ND will wind up at the end of the season.
